‘The X-Files’ Season 11 To Premiere in January

Well, 2018 is certainly going to be spooky, as Season 11 of The X-Files is set to premiere just after the new year, on Wednesday January 3rd, at 8/7c.

The news is both a surprise and not so much – it makes sense for the show to premiere sooner rather than later in the new year, especially since if you’ve been keeping a close eye on the filming like we have, you know they have the material. It’s a tad unexpected to see them on a Wednesday, though, and at 8 PM at that, but I’m not going to complain about getting The X-Files sooner than I expected.

Which, of course, doesn’t mean I won’t complain about the actual show if Chris Carter wants to go all platonic again or if we don’t get actual, concrete answers, but that’s a matter for another day.

FOX debuted a trailer for Season 11 last month at NYCC, and though we still don’t know as much as we’d like about Season 11, reports indicate that the season will have two conspiracy-heavy episodes, the first and the last – with the first one apparently centered on the Cigarette Smoking Man and 8 Monster-of-the-Week episodes. A substantial time-jump is expected from episode one.

Season 11 will be the first to feature 2 female writers, as well as two female directors.

Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are, of course, set to start. Mitch Pileggi and Annabeth Gish are expected to reprise their roles, with Barbara Hersey joining the show for Season 11.

So, level with me – are you excited? Apprehensive? Are you rolling your eyes at William? Do you trust Chris Carter? Are you also wondering if Gillian and David discovered the key to eternal youth? Share with us in the comments below!

The X-Files returns to FOX on Wednesday, January 3rd,  at 8/7c.
