Fangirlish’s FEELS of the Week: January 21st – January 27th

Welcome to another Sunday of talking about the shows that made us laugh, cry, go awww and, of course, look around and wonder what in the world was happening. We took a little break last week, cause holiday, so this week, expect even MORE feels. Because, if it made us feel things, whether they were good, or bad, then this is where we talk about it. This is where you tell us if you agree. This is where we let it all out.

So, without further ado, here are our picks:

Badass Female Character of the Week

Kayla: Livewire on Supergirl (RIP). She was such a bad ass. It made me miss her so much. They didn’t need to kill her off, but she definitely died in a bad ass way.

Danielle: Callie on this week’s The Fosters completely redirected her character this week, and I’m so incredibly proud of her!! Instead of causing a ruckus during Shiloh’s Q&A session, Callie used her artistic talents and facts on the DACA system to read Shiloh and fight for her rights. Hopefully she’ll learn more on how to fuse both social issues and art for college.

Lariel: Since Kayla’s already honored LiveWire, I’m going with my other favorite of the week: Alex Danvers on Supergirl. That confrontation with the cyberbully was STELLAR. Mom Goals, right there. ALex will make a fantastic mom someday. (Though I’m really afraid it will be sooner rather than later, to Ruby rather than someone new because we’ll have lost Sam.)

Lyra: We got another dose of Donna Hanscum in this week’s Supernatural! Her resilience, strength, and composure in the face of losing her family and her lover, make her one of the strongest women on this damn show. It’s more fuel to add to the fire that is Wayward Sisters. Have we got a full season order of that yet? BECAUSE WE SHOULD! Get to it, The CW!

OTP of the Week

Kayla: Conrad and Nicollette on The Resident. I don’t ship it yet, but I absolutely love the potential of it. Can’t wait to see more.

Lariel: Barry and Iris on The Flash. That moment when Barry vibrated his hand through the glass in the visitation room…sigh. WestAllen isn’t one of my big ships, but moments like this give me life.

Alyssa: Oliver and Felicity on Arrow. Is there anything more glorious than domestic Olicity? From good morning kisses to tag-team parenting to bullet-ridden computer memories, Oliver and Felicity are proving that a couple only get more interesting when they’re married and taking on the world together as a team.

Lizzie: I’m just gonna repeat what I said last week – Mulder and Scully are not platonic, and the whole point of The X-Files, as this episode makes clear, was them coming together. OTP. BAM. THE END.

Moment that made you collapse into a puddle of FEELS

Kayla: The conversation between Kara & Mon-El on the balcony on Supergirl had my shipper heart full. It was such an amazing parallel to “Supergirl Lives” in season 2. Kara actually gets his advice now.

Charles : The last scene between Jefferson and Lynn in Black Lightning. It was one of those moments where both are right but it hurts to see the angst for them. Don’t get me wrong, angst is great but it can still break your heart. Cress Williams and Christine Adams have tremendous chemistry in the hot moments and the quiet moments like this one here.

Caryn: The scene where we found out what lead to Jack’s death in This Is Us. It is so understated, them telling the origin of the cooker that started the fire, the dish towel that spread the fire, and how all of that will lead to the eventual demise of a great character. I’m glad they are telling the story, but it is also gut-wrenching, each little bit adding to our pain.

Terri: As the first notes of To Build a Home by The Cinematic Orchestra started on This Is Us I knew nothing but bad things could be on the way. The sequence leading up to the cooker catching on fire was cinematic perfection. I can only imagine how heartbreaking everything that follows will be.

Milka: The moment I heard the One Day At A Time theme song for the first time in a while. Netflix released season 2 on Friday and though I haven’t had time to binge on the whole season yet having this show back has brought up SO MANY FEELS! I can imagine that by the end of the second season I will love the show’s wonderful characters even more than I do now.

Lariel: LiveWire’s death on Supergirl. I’ve always liked Leslie’s spark (yeah, I went there!) but in this episode we got to see her change, eventually sacrificing herself to save Kara. Leslie can now join Leonard Snart in DCTV’s Heroic Dead Villains Society.

Alyssa: It was definitely that final scene on This Is Us once “To Build a Home” began playing with a backdrop of memories playing as the house that the Pearsons had called home for 18 years went up in flames. Then add on to that knowing that this is the moment that led to Jack’s death and knowing it’s coming…I was a blubbering mess. And Jack’s not even dead yet. Also, I’ll never look at a Crockpot the same again.

Lizzie: Basically every second of One Day At A Time season 2, but especially Penelope’s arc in episode 9 and, OF COURSE, that season finale. I will admit that, after finishing the season, I went into the bathroom, turned on the shower so no one could hear me, and cried for about 10 minutes. Not even ashamed.

Quote of the Week

Lizzie: “I’M FOX FREAKING MULDER, YOU PUNKS.” – Fox Mulder, The X-Files

Danielle: “What is an American? What makes you an American, and me an American but not Ximena, who has lived here her entire life, gone to school, graduated, worked, paid taxes, and loved her country just as much as anyone who was born here? THIS IS AN AMERICAN!!” – Callie Adams-Foster, The Fosters

Milka: “They took his childhood today. He’s never going to be the same.” – Jackson Avery, Grey’s Anatomy

Lariel: “A brother’s gotta get his exercise.” – Black Lightning. (I LOVE that he’s feeling every second of his age.)

Alyssa: Basically Felicity’s entire speech to William, which left me speechless. “But this is what he does best. No one does it better. What your dad does is very dangerous and the heroes don’t always make it home – I never forget that, but you know, I have loved your dad since the first time he brought me a bullet-ridden computer which means I’ve loved him for a long time – remind me to tell you about that sometime – but it means I’ve worried about him for a long time…he’s not perfect, but he makes his sacrifices so we have to make ours…we can’t take things for granted we have to live with the uncertainty, but that’s the price we pay for loving the people we love…everything he does he does for a good reason or what he thinks is a good reason so you can worry about your dad, but you have to believe he is going to be okay. Okay? Now, watch…after he takes these two down he’s going to spin, kick…use the arrow…oh, you probably shouldn’t have been allowed to watch that, that’s parenting 101.” -Felicity Smoak, Arrow

Charles: “In the words of one of my actual friends- “Ya Basic.” – Michael, The Good Place

WTF Moment of the Week

Kayla: Probably the plot on Supergirl about the blue sun not only taking Kara’s powers, but that it kills men of all species. Writers, this is just a way to do an all female team up and emasculate the men again. Stop doing this to your male characters.

Oh, and Kara and Imra being so cool around each other isn’t plausible. This is the most unrealistic love triangle ever. Seriously, Kara’s being a good sport, but she’s hurting badly and only Mon-El is actually noticing it. Trying to talk to her about it.

Writers, here’s a clue, fans hate love triangles. Especially this one. Neither will Kara or Mon-El come out of this looking good and Imra just gets the short end of it all. Just saying that the longer it’s drug out, the less people will want to watch. Have you guys learned from Arrow?? The show still suffers from the useless angst of season 5. I didn’t want Supergirl to follow suit.

Mon-El was the character you didn’t need to screw over. Don’t you guys get that he didn’t need to be trapped in this mess? You do your best to redeem him, but then do this to him. It doesn’t do anything for him or his character, and in fact it’s a very useless plot that wasn’t needed and was just added for drama. I hope you have your way out of this plot to make him look good (and Kara for that matter).

The fans are mad, some will wait it out, but you may lose some. I had hoped you had learned from your past with Arrow.

Lizzie: “We are building a wall. … We can’t allow your kind to infiltrate the rest of the cosmos. You’re not sending us your best people. You’re bringing drugs, you’re bringing crime, you’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people. But we have no choice, believe me. For although the rest of the galaxies all have their share of these problems, we fear you could infect the rest with the one trait that is unique to earthlings: You lie.” YES THIS WAS A QUOTE FROM THE ALIEN WTF WAS THAT WHOLE THE X-FILES EPISODE?

Charles: Tess’s resurrection on Agents of SHIELD. I didn’t expect to see Tess again after she was hung by the Kree soldiers. It was so freaky and spooky!
