Fangirlish’s FEELS of the Week: February 25th – March 3rd

Welcome to another Sunday of talking about the shows that made us laugh, cry, go awwwand, of course, look around and wonder what in the world was happening. If it made us feel things, whether they were good, or bad, then this is where we talk about it. This is where you tell us if you agree. This is where we let it all out.

So, without further ado, here are these week’s picks:

Badass Female Character of the Week

Lyra: Carol Peletier on The Walking Dead. I wasn’t even worried about Ezekiel. With Carol on the case the Saviors didn’t stand a chance! It’s also really interesting and nice how far she’s come since her breakdown and recovery last season. She’s grown as a woman, friend, and warrior, ultimately transforming into a person I’m proud of.

Kayla: Nic on The Resident. She asked questions, challenged the hospital administration, and she just truly cares about her patients.

Lariel: Since we didn’t do feels for the week of 2/19 I really need to get this one in. Zari in Legends of Tomorrow. Tala Ashe carried “Here I Go Again,” and was marvelous, funny and moving. And I’m going to sneak one in for this week, too, also from Legends: All hail the Dread Pirate Jiwe! Amaya is SO much better when she’s not simply a foil for Nate.

Naomi: Anissa Pierce A.K.A. Thunder of Black Lightning. As Anissa, she got arrested for defacing a Confederate statue with paint, and as Thunder she collapsed that bad boy with one stomp.

Erin: I mean, can I do real life people and put it as badass of the week and just say all the people suffering through Arrow. That show has become a piece of shit, waste of time. Can we all get hazard pay for watching it?

OTP of the Week

Kayla: Nic and Conrad on The Resident. They may not be together – YET – but the scene where she’s eating lunch and gets him to open up to her about his family is so raw and it shows that he trusts her enough open up about his family issues. Also the scene at the end when he gets jealous over seeing Nic leave with Jude – just perfect. I can’t wait to see where this is taken. The chemistry between Matt Czuchry and Emily VanCamp is powerful and is definitely selling this OTP.

Erin: I have been watching screeners all week trying to get ahead so can I just got with Lyatt, and you’ll see why when Timeless returns?

Lizzie: All they did was hold hands, but yeah, Mulder and Scully on The X-Files, because hey, Chris Carter, I can still ship them even if you think they’re platonic!

Naomi: Barry and Iris! This week’s The Flash gave us the Allens back in full force with their jealousy inducing displays of affection. They don’t even have to touch each other to pull at my heartstrings, but Iris’s assertive “You can start by kissing your wife” coupled with her pulling Barry into a longer kiss was well worth the winter hiatus wait.

Moment that made you collapse into a puddle of FEELS

Sarah: Chloe and Lucifer’s dance on Lucifer. Not that anyone is surprised, but their slow dance at the end of this week’s episode turned me from a “normal” human to a puddle of feels on the floor. Lucifer, ever the observant one this week (I know), set up the prom Chloe never got in her high school years. Turning Lux into a private prom floor with lights, and playing “Only You” every moment they were in each other’s arm showcased the pure love and affection they have between them. It felt like heaven was on earth in that scene and I’m not afraid to say it.

Kayla: The birth of Howard & Bernadette’s son on The Big Bang Theory. I’ve watched this show for years – literally the last 11 years of my life I’ve watched this show – and I would’ve never been able to guess the guy in season 1 that we met would be ever be married – much less be the father of two – but here we are.

It was just so puddle inducing seeing the development of Howard into what he’s become – it’s come full circle. The birth made the rest of the gang – at least Leonard & Penny and Sheldon & Amy – contemplate having children and discuss baby names. Especially since part of the episode was spent with Howard & Bernadette arguing over what to name their son. Will there be more TBBT babies? Who knows.

But the episode definitely had me in this puddle of “I never guessed this would happen with this character when I began watching 11 years ago”.

Lizzie: When Tom Kirkman has to wake up his daughter and tell her that there’s been an accident and her mom is dead. Mckenna Grace is such a good actress, and I’ve been there, I know what that news feels like and I just burst into tears. My chest felt tight. What a powerful, powerful scene.

Erin: Just watch Designated Survivor this week. Shit had me chewing xanax like pez.

Superhero of the Week

Kayla: Here’s a shocker! Ralph Dibney on The Flash. I actually really liked him this week – and this episode proved Ralph has the potential to be the superhero Barry sees in him. He offered Barry a job when the CCPD ousted him and truly showed that he cared for Izzy during their case. He really tried to protect her from Devoe. It’s the first steps in the hero’s journey. That’s why he’s here this week.

Lariel: I’m with Kayla on this. We’re getting a whole new Ralph here. And while they’re making him more bearable, the writers haven’t completely retconned the guy he used to be. The transformation has been gradual, going back to that heartfelt speech he made to Joe back in “The Trial of the Flash.” It wasn’t as if he’d been suddenly body-swapped, unlike what we’ve seen with some other Arrowverse characters.

Lyra: Carl Grimes on The Walking Dead. Instead of moping around like I probably would or how some writers would deal with a situation like this, Carl spent his last days helping people, saving his community, making sure his little sister had a photo of him, and telling his loved ones how much he loved him. What a man, what a send off, what a hero.

Quote of the Week

Lyra: “Embrace your beautiful death!” – Magog, Supernatural

Lariel: “Sorry I took so long. I was in the john.” – Harvey Bullock, Gotham. (Harvey, I adore you.)

Kayla: “Nook – New Hook. Apparently both versions are as thick as wood.” – Zelena giving Wish Hook his new name, Once Upon A Time

WTF Moment of the Week

Lariel: Originally I was going to say Jared’s breakup with Claire on The Good Doctor. But you can read that in my review. There was a much bigger WTF moment. Or maybe I should say WTF hour. Arrow, WTF? This conflict between OTA and NTA is becoming way too painful, and not the “good” cathartic type of pain. It’s as bad as when we were slogging through all the League of Assassins stuff back in S3. Good drama in this conflict would have been to have both sides be somewhat in the right and somewhat in the wrong, trying to find some kind of middle ground. But NTA is squarely in the wrong here, petulant children rebelling against Daddy Oliver. It’s a huge turnoff.

Kayla: I’m with Lariel here about Arrow. The whole episode was just a big WTF moment. Not Team Arrow – as most of us call them – are acting like petulant children who are throwing one massive temper tantrum. Just ugh – Arrow writers. This plot is just horrible.

Erin: Again, I return to Arrow and the bullshit there.

Lizzie: I call BULLSHIT to Scully having her own house which Mulder has never been to. BULLSHIT, The X-Files. BULLSHIT.

Naomi:  Black Lightning vs. Thunder. Even though I knew it was bound to happen, I didn’t expect Jefferson and Anissa to have an all out superhero brawl before their reveals.
