In a not so surprising move, The CW has announced renewals for the bulk of their shows. This includes: Arrow, Black Lightning, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, The Flash, Jane the Virgin, Riverdale, Supergirl, and Supernatural.
The DCTV shows are almost always a given. They are part of a complex world that continues to grow year after year. Other shows like Dynasty and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend are the ones that remain a surprise. The latter has seen dwindling rating and the former never really hit it off like other dramas like Jane the Virgin or Riverdale.
Supernatural seems like the show that will never die. It’ll be on it’s 14th season and the longest running series on The CW. With the success of the “ScoobyNatural” episode there’s no doubt that this show is going to push harder to create more unique, weird, and funny episodes for fans to watch.
Not so surprisingly, shows like The 100, iZombie, Life Sentence, and Valor haven’t been renewed. The 100 and iZombie have a strong fan base but not the numbers that the rest of the lineup on The CW has. And Life Sentence and Valor aren’t pulling in the views at all. An official decision on the final 4 and the premiere of new CW shows will occur in May.
With The CW’s expanded line-up going from Sunday to Friday, the network is looking to increase its total viewers and expand on some of the content they already have. Julie Plec, from The Vampire Diaries & The Originals, is apparently in talks for a sequel/spin-off to continue the universe. And we’re all looking forward to the female spin-off of Supernatural titled Wayward Sisters.
