Empire: Deadline reports that Nicole Ari Parker has been promoted to a series regular for the Fox show’s fifth season. The report says her character Giselle will step from her ex’s shadow to try to take power for herself.
On Becoming a God in Central Florida: Also from Deadline, Kirsten Dunst )will star and executive produce the program for YouTube. It’s described as a dark comedy, with Dunst portraying a woman who schemes her way to the top of an Amway-style organization that had ruined her family. The ten-episode season will hit the site in 2019.
Watchmen: EW reports Jeremy Irons has been tapped to lead the pilot for this upcoming HBO show. Deadline reports additional casting of Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sara Vickers. Creator Damon Lindelof describes the series as a remix of the 12 issues of the “Watchmen” comic.
The Righteous Gemstones: John Goodman’s next gig after The Conners will apparently be an HBO comedy about televangelists, created by Danny McBride, who will also star. The Hollywood Reporter says HBO has ordered a pilot, which will presumably be shot after production wraps on The Conners.
The Enemy Within: Deadline reports Noah Mills will stay in the NBC drama family, moving from the canceled The Brave to this new counterintelligence show, set to debut in Spring 2019.
Charlie’s Angels: ThatHashTagShow.com reports former Power Ranger Naomi Parker will join the latest movie reboot of the 70s show.
