The Netflix adaptation for the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has released two photos that have us more than excited to see Mad Men alum Kiernan Shipka take on the role of Sabrina. And honestly, it looks like something straight out of the comic book by creator Robert Aguirre-Sacasa, now know for his work on the Archie Comics adaptation Riverdale.
Both photos have Sabrina in the forest. In the comics, the forest plays a pivotal role to the witches and is the center of their power, almost like a safe haven. In the first photo we have Sabrina standing in the forest, the woods around her seeming to fade away. And in the second photo we have Sabrina on her knees, surrounded by her aunts & fellow witches, and about to accept her future as a witch.
Creator Robert Aguirre-Sacasa is the brain child behind the darker adaptation of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The comic was part of the Archie Horror series and made in collaboration with Robert Hack, the man responsible for the dark and gritty art style that the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is known for. The 8 issues have been made into a 10-episode season on Netflix.
Like in the comic, this half-witch, half-mortal will be wrestling with the evil forces around her, inside of her, and that threaten the very people she loves. She’ll be joined by notable characters like Hilda Spellman (Lucy Davis), Zelda Spellamn (Miranda Otto), Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch), and Ambrose Spellman (Chance Perdomo).
