Emily Blunt Talks About Playing ‘Mary Poppins’

I am not a big believer in the make believe, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t love it. I want to escape from life every chance I get.

I think that is part of the reason that I love movies that make me suspend reality and live in a state of make believe. Maybe that is why I look forward to things that make me take a second look and figure out  if I am going to be able to ESCAPE.

Mary Poppins was always one of those movies for me. I was hesitant about a sequel, but I am excited for one. All of the reviews have been phenomenal and just what I wanted to hear. It seem like the movie that I can’t wait to see.

Disney released a new featurette for Mary Poppins where Emily Blunt talks about the joy of playing the iconic character. You can watch it above.

In Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns,” an all new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.

Mary Poppins Returns hits theaters December 19, 2018.
