To be honest, the book kind of creeps me out. It’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy it – I always enjoy a book that makes me think. I always enjoy a book that makes me examine what I have, the life that I live, and the people around me.
But, I will admit seeing the trailer for The Goldfinch, I am a little creeped out and a little afraid of Ansel Elgort. Like the mans acting abilities are out of this world. Sure, I don’t understand the need for him to put his camera roll up in a matter of a few minutes on Instagram, but that’s a whole different story.
The Goldfinch is based off the 2014 Pulitzer Prize and the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction book, written by Donna Tartt. It contains an all star cast that is led by Ansel Elgort and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman. Sarah Paulson, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Wilson, Denis O’Hare, Finn Wolfhard, Aneurin Barnard and Oakes Fegley also star.
The Goldfinch is about Theodore “Theo” Decker was 13 years old when his mother was killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The tragedy changes the course of his life, sending him on a stirring odyssey of grief and guilt, reinvention and redemption, and even love. Through it all, he holds on to one tangible piece of hope from that terrible day…a painting of a tiny bird chained to its perch. The Goldfinch.
The Goldfinch is slated for release on September 13, 2019.
