FEELS OF THE WEEK – October 13th to October 19th

Welcome to another Sunday of talking about the shows & movies that made us laugh, cry, go awww and, of course, look around and wonder what in the world was happening. If it made us feel things, whether they were good, or bad, then this is where we talk about it. This is where you tell us if you agree. This is where we let it all out.

So, without further ado, here are these week’s picks:

Badass Female Character of the Week

Lizzie: I’m still on the Batwoman train, choo choo! Though this week, I just don’t want to choose, because Kate, Mary AND Alice, were all, in their own way, amazing, and strong and so damn complex. That’s my favorite thing about these three so far, they aren’t just …the kind of one dimensional characters we often see. And THIS IS A CW SHOW. I’m shook.

Erin: I haven’t watched a lot of television this week, but I never miss an episode of Legacies. This week, my badass female character is Hope Mikaelson. She’s erased herself from everyone’s life and now that she’s back – she’s living with a pain like no other. It’s hard to love some people and them not know who you are. Surviving that pain takes strength. A strength a lot of us may not have. I admire them.

Jasmine: I’m going with the new Detective Kat on Law & Order: SVU. She’s only been in a few episodes of the show so far, but I really like her and hope to see more of her now that Carisi has become the new ADA. She’s pretty damn badass and gets the job done. She doesn’t back down from anything or anyone and you can tell she’s an advocate for the victims they help.

OTP of the Week

Lyra: The beautiful love stories on Amazon Prime’s Modern Love have enough OTP’s to go around! From a queer couple looking to add to their family in the form of a child to a woman finding love later on in life, the OTP’s are here!

Gillian: I’m going to be a little weird this week and say Nolan and Dr. Grace on The Rookie. I have been greatly enjoying the relationship between Nolan and Jessica Russo, but despite my Sarah Shahi love, her character has had some shady moments. Introducing Grace, who already has a history with Nolan, plus being played by Ali Larter, has been very intriguing and I’m looking forward to exploring their relationship.

Erin: I have been addicted to Blue Bloods for years and I am always going to love the show. And for me, my OTP of the week is Jamie and Eddie. These two just make me believe in love – the ups and downs of it. The ins and outs of it. I just really, really love them and every time I see them I remember to believe that there is someone out there.

Jasmine: Going with Asher and Olivia from All American. I just love those two and would love to see a relationship be explored between them. I know they hooked up in the past but they were both making some pretty bad choices then. They have been each others support systems for awhile now. They have become such good friends and seen each other through some pretty bad stuff.

Moment That Made You Collapse Into a Puddle of FEELS

Jasmine: I actually have two and they are both from All American. The first one is the scenes with Layla. She is not okay and it hurts my heart to see that nobody around her is even noticing. There are so many warning signs that she’s not ok. I really hope someone figures it out and helps her before something drastic happens. The second moment was when Coop played her song for her mother. That was such a vulnerable moment for her of just letting her mom know how she felt about being gay and her mom still wanting to keep it hidden from people. The song was a moment for her to tell her mom what she was too scared to say face to face.

Lizzie: Every second of Elijah’s Strait argument in the case of the week on Bluff City Law, but especially when he said “he yelled fire.” The metaphor for why hate speech shouldn’t be covered under free speech, especially when it has the consequences it had on this case, was immensely powerful, and the fact that it fell on Elijah and Anthony to try this case was the right way to go.

Erin: Exactly what Lizzie said. I am really sad that Bluff City Law isn’t going to return because I LOVE it. I think we need more real shows – shows that give us courage and show us life outside of the places that we are used to. I just feel like this show is different than anything I have seen before and I appreciate it.

Gillian: Totally unexpected but like every scene in the season premiere of Arrow! I had grown really sick of the show in the past few seasons but this episode brought back everything I had originally loved about the show (with the exception of Felicity, obviously) and I had a blast watching Oliver in this other world. I didn’t think I would be sad to see the show end, but maybe it appears I really will miss it. And I never tire of Colin Donnell’s Tommy, we did not get nearly enough of him.

Quote of the Week

Erica: “Were you drawing?” Cisco, The Flash

Erin: It’s not TV or movies, but my quote of the week comes from real life. It’s the “yes” that Meghan Markle answered.

Jasmine: “It sounds like you’re saying that a woman has to be a victim to have control over her own body.” – Detective Kat, Law & Order: SVU

WTF Moment of the Week

Gillian: It’s a WTF in a good way, but actually finding out what Piper is on Emergence was pretty awesome and WTF. I’m loving that they’ve now kind of gone in a Twilight Zone direction and that they’re not drawing out the overall mystery.

Lizzie: Every part of episode 1×06 of Modern Love. No, but how did a show that got so many things right get that SO wrong? I felt uncomfortable and icky with every second of that episode, and I wish I could use brain bleach to delete it from my mind completely.

Erin: I tried to watch Charmed’s second season and well, this whole series is all WTF and why isn’t it cancelled yet?

Erica: So…Grey’s Anatomy won this category for me again this week. A man fell from a plane and killed someone. I don’t even know what else to say to explain why that moment deserves a WTF from all of us.

Jasmine: This one goes to How To Get Away With Murder. When Frank was dropped off on Bonnie’s doorstep all bloodied up after being severely beaten by Laurel’s brother Xaviers cronies, my jaw dropped.  I know Frank has done his fair share of bad shit but I like him so I hope he pulls through this.
