Welcome to another Sunday of talking about the shows & movies that made us laugh, cry, go awww and, of course, look around and wonder what in the world was happening. If it made us feel things, whether they were good, or bad, then this is where we talk about it. This is where you tell us if you agree. This is where we let it all out.
So, without further ado, here are these week’s picks:
Badass Female Character of the Week
Gillian: Sorry, gotta give Dex from Stumptown some love again! I absolutely adore her relationship with her brother and she is so protective of all of her people. Even when one of those people is in the wrong like Grey! I was giddy seeing her go after the guy who had “kidnapped” Ansel and she did it in a three piece suit?! Love love love.
Jasmine: Going with the new SVU Detective Kat on Law and Order: SVU again this week because I just love her! She’s such an advocate for protecting victims and I can feel how much she wants to make a difference. She’s just awesome!
Lyra: Another week, another moment to praise Mary Hamilton for being the badass she is. She saw an opportunity to get answers and she ran with it in one of the best moments of this week’s Batwoman. (Wait until Alice hears about this.) The trailer made me think, “Oh my god, what if Mary is the inside woman to Alice’s gang?!” That quickly went out the window when we saw her pretending to be Alice to get information for Batwoman. That is a hell of a woman and another reason why I love this woman; she’s quick AF on her feet!
OTP of the Week
Lyra: Even though it only lasted for one episode, I really enjoyed the relationship we saw blossoming between Kate and Reagan. It was sweet, fun, and she was the kind of woman Kate would totally be with if it wasn’t for all her night time activities. And I’m hoping that this isn’t the last time we see Reagan. On a side note, kudos to The CW for giving me hot and heavy Kate and Reagan. If the heterosexual couples get the hot and heavy like Olicity does, then Batwoman deserves the same and I’m down for more of it!
Jasmine: Olivia and Asher on All American. They both care so deeply for each other. Olivia has supported Asher in everything he has done to turn his life around. I could see how much he needed her when he asked her to go with him, and stay when he met up with his mom after not seeing her for a year. Hell, even his mom thinks they look cute together and she hasn’t even been around!
Lizzie: My go-to is always Densi, on NCIS: Los Angeles. Even when they’re not having a big, dramatic episode, they’re always proving that they can have each other’s backs and love each other, at the same time, without the world (or the show) ending. Imagine that!
Moment That Made You Collapse Into a Puddle of FEELS
Jasmine: Captain Olivia Benson on Law and Order: SVU. The moment she broke down at the morgue while identifying the body of her dead brother Simon. Although they weren’t super close, his death hit her hard because he was the only family she has.
Lizzie: I don’t even watch Arrow anymore, but that final scene of this week’s episode, where Mia takes her first look at her father, and lets out a strangled “Dad?” while William looks on his he’s never seen anything more amazing in his life? THAT HURT ME, OKAY? It hurt me. I invested many years in this show, and as much as it has disappointed me, it has also brought me joy, so this means something.
Julie: DeLuca’s little talk with Zola about the legend that was Derek Shepherd, assuring her that her father was gone but not forgotten was so sweet that it hit me right in the feels. Grey’s is a much different show that what it used to be, but moments like this are why I keep watching. Also, I still really miss McDreamy. *goes off to cry some more
WTF Moment of the Week
Gillian: I’m going to have to go with A Million Little Things here. Maggie was one of my favorite characters in the first season and she has really been pissing me off this season with the drama regarding her mom and Jason Ritter’s character. I’m glad things have gotten better in that storyline. HOWEVER, Gary was totally out of line this week with how he treated Maggie for making an innocent mistake and accusing her of all sorts of things. I love James Roday for Psych but Gary gets on my nerves constantly and he is really moving toward WTF forever on this show if he continues to lash out at Maggie like this.
Jasmine: I’ve got 2 this week and they are both from this week’s episode of All American and both involve the parents. The first one is Asher’s mom asking him to give his dad the divorce papers to sign. Like seriously? Really mom? Asher doesn’t hear from you for a year and the first thing you do is tell him you’re engaged and to give his father divorce papers to sign? Wow mom WOW! The second moment was when Spencer and Dillons dad Corey told Billy he was leaving AGAIN! I was livid! Corey is a freaking coward! He just came into Spencer’s life again and he was finally starting to open up and now he’s leaving?? Not only that but is he leaving his step-son Darnell behind too? That’s messed up and I’m still mad!
Lizzie: Netflix released Holiday in the Wild this week, the first of its “holiday movies” and boy, do I have some questions. First, where is the, you know, holiday part of this holiday movie. Second, why is Rob Lowe trying to channel Indiana Jones? Third: WHY DO I CARE MORE ABOUT THE ELEPHANTS THAN THE PEOPLE?
Julie: The whole part of this week’s episode of Titans when Dick goes to see the Wilson family is a WTF for me. First, there was something totally weird about Deathstroke, and now I’m about 90 percent convinced Jerichois in there with the body-sharing. Why else would they put so much focus on that ability in past episode. Deathstroke was all twitchy, and then the mom got nervous and asked Dick to leave then. And there was the whole part at the airport where Dick gets himself intentionally arrested. What the heck is he doing? Really removing himself from the equation? Or does he have a bigger plan in play?
