‘Chicago Med’ 5×07 Review: “Who Knows What Tomorrow Brings”

There was a lot of love going around on this week’s Chicago Med. From love interests to possible love triangles, love was definitely in the air. And at this point, who doesn’t need some love?! But I’m gonna be real honest and say that we do not need any more love triangles on Chicago Med. Not now, not ever. From love inerests, to love triangles, to vampires in the ED, this episode was downright crazy.

Vampires in the ED?

Will gets the weirdest patients, I swear. I mean, the guy has vampire fangs and thinks he’s a vampire. And as if that wasn’t crazy enough, his skin literally blisters in the sun! Don’t get me wrong, I like a good vampire story just as much as anybody, but this whole case was kinda creepy and very strange. It would have been great for a Halloween episode.

I don’t know if it was just me, but this case gave off some major The Vampire Diaries vibes. Not gonna lie, I thought it was kind of a weird case at first. However, I warmed up to it after a while and it definitely got better. And I loved seeing Will and Dr. Charles work together. We don’t get to see them work together very often, which is a shame if you ask me. I think they make a pretty good team. Hopefully we get to see more of them in future episodes.

Speaking of Dr. Charles, I was pretty shocked when Tom’s girlfriend BIT HIM when he tried to stop them from leaving the hospital. I get that they think they’re vampires, but that was a little extreme. I just hope he’s okay and doesn’t end up with Hepatitis C because of it. We need Dr. Charles to stay healthy. Chicago Med wouldn’t be the same without him.

A Chexton Baby?! Count Me In!

I am loving all this talk of a Chexton baby. I mean, who doesn’t want to see April and Ethan as parents?! The fact that Ethan charted April’s ovulation schedule was so adorable. He is so ready to be a dad, and I for one am so ready to see him be a dad. And I think it’s safe to say that April has finally come around to the idea of being a mom, and I could not be happier. She would make the best mom.

April has not had the easiest journey to parenthood. In case you all forgot, April got pregnant in season two with Tate Jenkins, but sadly lost the baby due to her tuberculosis. She fought so hard to try to beat the odds with that pregnancy. After seeing how badly she wanted to have a baby then, and how badly she’s trying for it again now, it would be nice too see it work out for her this time. April deserves a happy ending.

Trouble in Paradise?

While there were some good Chexton scenes, this was not the best episode for them. Ethan overstepped his boundaries by calling Gina’s military doctor, and April wasn’t having it. April is all for protecting her patients privacy and respecting their wishes, so when Ethan did the opposite of that and it backfired big time she wasn’t afraid to call him out on it. Thank goodness Dr. Marcel was able to step in. The fact that Ethan wasn’t listening to her this episode was clearly getting on April’s nerves, which is understandable. I just hope they can work it out and that this isn’t the beginning of the end for them.

There seems to be some sparks flying between April and Dr. Marcel, and I do not ship it. While I admit that those two would make kind of a cute couple, she needs to end up with Ethan. Those two are endgame. She has so much history and chemistry with Ethan. Plus, who knows what it would do to Ethan if April broke it off. While I’m glad she walked away before Dr. Marcel could kiss her, I don’t like that they almost kissed in the first place. We definitely don’t need another love triangle. And after what happened with Manstead, my heart couldn’t handle it if Chexton doesn’t make it.

Stand Out Scene

Ethan showing up at the party and apologizing to April was so sweet. I absolutely love those two together. Ethan is not usually one to admit that he’s wrong very easily, so the fact that he was able to swallow his pride and apologize to April just goes to show how much he really cares about her. He’s even letting her decide how they go about having the baby. And he said he loves her! How cute was that?!

I’ve said before that I really enjoy Chexton scenes, and I hope we get to see more scenes like this. They are just so darn adorable. I love how their relationship is progressing this season. Hopefully these two can stay happy together because like I said before, I need at least one relationship in Chicago Med to work out.

Are Sparks Flying For Maggie?

Let me just say that I am all for Maggie getting a love interest. It’s about time! She deserves it after everything that happened between her and Barry. And I must admit, her and Ben are pretty cute together. Their little meet-cute during chemo was adorable. Maggie has had a pretty rough season so far with her cancer and all. She needs something good to come her way.

I think it’s good that Maggie met someone during her chemo. It will be good for her to have a special someone who understand what she’s going through. For Maggie, it’s not gonna be enough for someone to just know what she’s going through. She needs someone who understands what she’s going through, too. Because like she said earlier in the season, she doesn’t want to be pitied. So if you ask me, Ben is the perfect match for her. I can definitely get behind the Ben and Maggie ship.

Best Lines

April: We are one court order away from losing this patient to the military police. We have minutes, not hours.

Ethan: What I’m saying is .. I love you, and I need to respect your wishes

Natalie: Those feelings that seem so frightening, ultimately they will become one of your greatest assets as a doctor

Ethan: Are your orders to bring her back dead? Because that’s exactly what you’ll be doing
