Fangirlish Gift Guides: The Person Committing to Getting Healthy In All Kinds Of Ways

New year is coming and that means a lot of New Years Resolutions. Personally, I don’t do them. I set intentions all year long.

But one of the most popular resolutions is loosing weight – but we don’t like that one. Commitment to getting or staying healthy? That’s always a positive thing to aim for because health is super important – mental and physical. I have learned that over the past three years, fighting a health battle that I never thought that I would have to face.

So this year, if you’re committing to getting healthy or staying healthy, that is something that we have some ideas for.

Old Navy Workout Gear

Cost: $19.99 and up

Personally, I love to be active. Every morning I go on a two mile walk and I love it. And then I take walks throughout the day. It’s a start because I just have started being active after weight loss surgery.

I’ll get to the working out part.

Old Navy gear is great. I love their sculpting leggings and the compression that they give. If someone is just starting out – this is a good brand to start with.

They have everything from leggings to sports bras to tops to jackets to hoodies. There is everything that you would ever want there.

Bulletproof Coffee Starter Set

Cost: $39.94

If you are going to drink coffee, make it work to your advantage. Bulletproof coffee it where it’s at.

Bulletproof is a science-based approach to nutrition and wellness that is tried, tested and proven to make your life more awesome. I mean I never thought of putting butter into coffee, but it’s actually not that bad.

This starter kit will help you out. It includes – Brain Octane oil and Original Whole Bean Coffee. For lasting energy and focus, blend 8-12 oz. of Original Coffee, 1-2 Tbsp of grass-fed butter or 1-2 tsp of Grass-Fed Ghee, and 1 tsp-2 Tbsp of Brain Octane oil.

The Performance Paleo Cookbook: Recipes for Training Harder, Getting Stronger and Gaining the Competitive Edge

Cost: $13.13

Starting to eat healthy is an adventure. At least it is for me. BUT – I love cookbooks. I love cookbooks because it helps me to explore different kinds of foods and ways to cook them.

It’s really different when you start eating stuff that isn’t out of a box.

I don’t eat strictly Paleo, but I do love paleo. This cookbook has helped me find healthier ways to cook the things that I love. It has recipes such as Mocha-Rubbed Slow Cooker Pot Roast, Honey Garlic Lemon Chicken Wings, Baked Cinnamon Carrots, Savory Salt & Vinegar Coconut Chips and Banana Fudgesicles.

I don’t eat carrots but the rest ain’t bad.

Round Velvet Pillows

Cost: $39.00

Part of getting healthy or staying healthy is mental. Mental health is just as important as physical health.

These pillows can add to any meditation area – which in my experience meditation helps with ones mental health.

They come in 11 colors and are perfect to sit on to meditate or you know, if you just want to chill out on the couch and put them under your head.

The colors are bright and inviting. I love the vintage stitching.

Cost: $399.95

I will admit that I choked on the price of this, but after having weight loss surgery, I don’t know how I ever lived without my Vitamix.

You go through a period of having to drink only liquids and then soft foods.

And the Vitamix was able to help me prepare EVERYTHING. I was able to easily adjust speed to achieve a variety of textures. Cause hey, there are times where you have to make sure that there isn’t even a lump in your food.

The power and precision of the Vitamix was able to pulverize every recipe ingredient, including the tiniest seeds. And it could even make cold soup hot because the blades move fast enough.

Power Systems Dynamax Medicine Balls

Cost: $130 – $194
I am learning to work out – though I do it from the privacy of my home. I buy a lot of workout equipment to learn how to use it.
Dynamax Medicine Balls have a soft feel. The stuffed medicine balls have a heavy duty, vinyl coated nylon cover. They make them easy to use.
Heavy-duty Dynamax Medicine Balls are our largest, non-bouncing medicine ball (14″ diameter).

Cost: $32.00

I never thought that I would be a GOOP person, but there are sometimes that I love their products.

And part of getting healthy for me – taking care of my skin. This Salt Detox Scrub – Smooth, exfoliate, soften, and hydrate your skin with the detoxifying power of five mineral-rich salts (Himalayan pink salt, Dead Sea salt, Celtic sea salt, New Zealand solar salt, and Epsom salt) and three ultramoisturizing oils (cold-pressed moringa, pure unfiltered rose hip, and organic extra virgin olive oils).

It makes you feel calm and centered. Centering myself is good for my mental health.

Sakara Clean Eating

I love shit that is bad for me, just as much as the next person. I know that there are things that I shouldn’t be eating that I do.

BUT Sakara is one of the best tasting clean eating products I have ever tried. I use it every once in awhile as a way to detox my body (sorry, I can’t do the juicing thing). The food is organic, plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free, non-GMO, no refined sugar.

Cost: $199 – $399

I know, I know – it’s an investment. BUT it is one that you won’t regret.

I suffer from chronic pain and so working out and being active is hard. But the Theragun has been a game changer.

This revolutionary deep muscle treatment uses rapid, repetitive strokes to stimulate blood flow & heat. The unique 16 mm stroke length & industry-leading speed delivers the most effective muscle treatment of any handheld device.

It’s an investment but your muscles will thank you.

Ultimate To-Go Container

Cost: $15.00

I know that there are a lot of food options out there in the world, but when you are trying to be healthier, sometimes it is harder.

Most of us are looking for convenience and when we don’t have it we make excuses. But this to go container makes bringing things with you easier. This grown-up lunch box includes utensils, salad dressing tube, and a reusable ice pack.

The BPA-free plastic container has dividers to keep food compartmentalized, a built-in vent for microwaving hot foods.

Zojirushi SM-SA60-BA Stainless Steel Mug, 20-Ounce, Black

Cost: $27.98

Don’t use single use plastics if you can prevent it. I am sucking at this lately, because of my addiction to Vitamin Water.

But for everything else, I use reusable containers. And the great thing about them – is it makes me stay hydrated. Because I always have something on me. And that’s good because you need to be hydrated for wellness.

Made of BPA-free plastic and stainless steel. Easy-to-clean nonstick interior, these disassemble easily to make them easy to clean.

20oz. capacity with 1-1/2″ opening.

Really keeps hot things hot.

Apple Watch Series 5

Cost: Starting at $399

One of the reasons that I choose an iWatch over a FitBit is because of the EKG feature. Heart health is of the utmost importance.

The Apple Watch has helped me personally. I didn’t pay attention to the heart feature, but when I was going in for surgery a few weeks ago, I found out that I had an irregularly low heart rate. The doctors were able to see what it had been because I keep my watch on at all times.

And that was able to help me get the surgery I needed.

Not to mention – I keep track of all my steps with my watch and so I am always hitting 15,000 a day.

Cost: $14.00

I never in my life thought that I would say that socks are essential to wellness. I mean at the same point, I never thought that I would see the joy in expensive sheets either.

Great for: strolling around on wood floors, and staying on your toes in barre class or other workout studios. Not great for: skidding and slipping.

These socks are the most comfortable things in the world. And when you wear them, you will find yourself walking on air and when you’re not concerned about your socks slipping and they are comfortable AF, you find yourself in a mental space that allows you to focus.

And yes, I am not shitting you when I say that socks will make a difference. And besides making a difference for you – when you get a pair, they donate a pair. That’s a good thing.

The Five Minute Journal

Cost: $24.99

Mental Health is of the utmost importance. And sometimes it takes us taking a step back and thinking about all of the good things that we have in life. We need to think about the joys we have instead of just all the things wrong.

Mental Health affects physical health.

The five minute journal has been a game changed for my mental health. It’s helped me to focus in a new way.

It would be a great gift for anyone looking to get healthy or stay healthy.

The Casper Pillow

Cost: $65.00

All wellness and health starts with sleep. Sleep is an essential thing. Getting good sleep is of the utmost importance.

Casper is so comfortable.

Unique pillow-in-pillow design is soft and supportive. It is suited for all sleepers. The Dual-layer design is machine-washable.
