Welcome to another Sunday of talking about the shows & movies that made us laugh, cry, go awww and, of course, look around and wonder what in the world was happening. If it made us feel things, whether they were good, or bad, then this is where we talk about it. This is where you tell us if you agree. This is where we let it all out.
So, without further ado, here are these week’s picks:
Badass Female Character of the Week
Lariel: Once again, Seven of Nine, Star Trek: Picard. I mean, come on, look at her!
Gillian: Mary kicking some Alice ass on Batwoman! She didn’t let revenge completely overtake her, though I wouldn’t have blamed her! I could feel how cathartic that whole thing was and I’m so proud of her.
Naomi: I have to choose two women from the same show actually. This week, The Flash introduced Sue Dearborn. She’s cute as a button but certainly kicked ass and finessed Ralph in the process. I can’t wait to see how her story plays out. I also have to choose the REAL Iris West-Allen. She used her smarts to help Eva materialize the power to control the mirror pieces. (Unless Eva is playing Iris…) Iris also has the brains to help Eva escape. Perhaps that’s why she got pulled into the Mirrorverse anyway. The females leading The Flash story arcs are definitely badass and worth giving the show a look if you aren’t tuning in!
Jasmine: Olivia on All American. The strength and courage she showed when she made the decision to ask Asher if he was using Steroids and then she let him know she couldn’t be with someone who did drugs. Her sobriety means everything to her and the fact that she let him know she cared for him but if she had to stop being with him to maintain her sobriety, she would.
Jessica: Marjan on 9-1-1: Lone Star. She stepped up by helping Mateo pass his final exam and getting the entire house involved. She really impressed me by how dedicated she was and how she truly cared about Mateo.
OTP of the Week
Jasmine: I’m still going with Asher and Olivia in All American because him setting up that romantic date night was really sweet. I know everything didn’t go as planned but the gesture was still a cute moment to me.
Gillian: I know it’s early and it’s probably not going to happen, but the scene in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist where Max brought Zoey’s father pudding was so cute! I want to know exactly why Zoey doesn’t have feelings for him aside from friendship!
Lariel: Not a romantic pair but a friendship: Zava on Legends of Tomorrow. Zari 2.0 started the season a spoiled brat, but she’s changing quickly. It feels a little fast, but that’s par for the course with Legends. Still, I loved her last scene with Ava. These two are misfits even among the misfits of the Waverider crew, and each seems to fill a need for the other.
Jessica: I’m also picking Asher and Olivia from All American. He was so sweet, and she really appreciated what he did for her (and she called him “baby”)!
Moment that made you collapse into a puddle of FEELS
Naomi: The Barry and Iris on The Flash lightning rod connection is oh so real and on display! Cue the tears.
Gillian: Man, This is Us has quite a few contenders. Was it the Big Three finding the tape Jack recorded for them all to listen to at age 18? Toby finally figuring out how to connect with baby Jack by describing Star Wars? Or the fact that Kevin built the house Jack designed? This show reduces me to a puddle of feels all the time.
Jasmine: In the Lifetime movie You Can’t Take My Daughter, Amy’s struggle to get through talking to the police After she was assaulted had me in tears because they were treating her like what happened to her was her fault. She was so distraught and it was heartbreaking.
Lariel: Carly breaking up with Shaun on The Good Doctor. You could see it coming for the past few episodes, but it still hurt!
Jessica: The ending of Criminal Minds. Fifteen years is amazing for a show, and it was time, but goodbyes are always so heart wrenching. I cried watching everyone say goodbye and walking out of the BAU one last time. I’ll miss these characters.
Lizzie: That scene near the end of Party of Five, with Lucia, Beto, Valentina and Rafa walking away from Emilio, as he stood on the other side of the border, unable to go with them. It’s just so real, and it broke me.
Quote of the Week
Lariel: “I have millions of followers, but zero friends.” Zari, Legends of Tomorrow
Gillian: “Why does the ceiling hate me?” Jake Peralta, Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Naomi: “I’m still with you.” Iris West-Allen, The Flash
Charles : “You thought I died. Well I didn’t” Alice, Batwoman
Jasmine: “No is a complete sentence.”- Amy, You Can’t Take My Daughter
Jessica: “Thank you for letting me be a part of this for so long, and thank you for reminding me there’s an infinite amount of heroism and kindness in the world no matter how bleak it seems.” -Penelope Garcia, Criminal Minds
WTF Moment of the Week
Lizzie: I know they probably didn’t have enough time, and there were a lot of guest stars to bring back on Criminal Minds, but I hate when shows ends with some big things open to interpretation. I DON’T WANT TO INTERPRET WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. I can headcanon feelings and things like that, but the job of an ending is to, you know, tell me how things ended.
Lariel: The final minute of Star Trek: Picard. Agnes?! What the F?!?!?!
Gillian: Kirby, please stop sleeping with Adam on Dynasty. You are way better than him and he deserves NOTHING. Thank you.
Jasmine: The first half of You Can’t Take My Daughter. The way Amy was treated after she was assaulted, from the police interview, to the way the entire legal system handled her case was terrible. Knowing the movie was based on a true story, made it that much more upsetting.
Jessica: I just can’t believe Shemar Moore didn’t return to Criminal Minds. They couldn’t have changed his schedule to fit in one cameo appearance? While I did like the finale, it just didn’t feel right without one last Morgan/Garcia scene.
