Chicago PD‘s “Intimate Violence” gave us SO. MUCH Upstead content. And I loved all of it. Like Upton said, they’re good together. Plus, we got to learn more about my girl Hailey. I love learning about the One Chicago characters’ pasts, no matter what it’s like. It helps me make since of why they are the way that they are and how they got to where they are now. I gotta say though, Hailey’s story broke me. Regardless, this might go down as one of my favorite episodes of Chicago PD yet.
All The Upstead Feels
We got SO much Upstead content this week, and I loved every second of it. I loved that Hailey requested that she be partnered with Jay again. And the fact that Jay gave Hailey the roses from the flower shop was beyond adorable. They really do make a great team. Like Hailey said, they’re good together. They’re good together in more ways than one, if you know what I mean.
I love a good slow burn. I really do. But it seems like Upstead is taking forever to even hug. It kills me to know that Hailey almost told Jay how she felt at the hospital before his phone went off. I have never hated a phone more in my life. But at least she kinda-sorta admitted it to Vanessa. I have no doubt right now that those two will eventually end up together. Regardless, I’m still holding out for the moment when Upstead finally admits their feelings for each other. They are the slowest of all slow burns. And all I’m saying is, the moment those two finally get together better be worth the wait.
Hailey needs to be protected at all costs. She did not deserve anything that happened to her in her past. My heart literally broke for her when she was talking about what happened. She deserves so much better than that. I’m so glad we’re learning more about her though, even if it isn’t all sunshine and roses. Because our past helps shape who we are, good and bad. And I’d say Hailey is a pretty amazing person, despite what she’s been through. I love Hailey Ann Upton.
I’m so glad that Hailey is able to open up and be so vulnerable with Jay. Their relationship really is special. I love that Hailey found someone that she can trust and turn to about things, since they people who were supposed to be there for her clearly weren’t. It broke my heart when she said that she wished someone would have done what Jay did for her when she was little. She has someone to protect her now, and I really really love that.
Stand Out Scene
Kim giving Adam the hockey tickets to thank him for being there for her was so sweet. It showed us that Kim really did notice how sweet and supportive Adam was to her through it all. And Adam whispering “I’m still with you” after Kim walked away was so precious. This scene was just so sweet. I loved everything about it.
It looks like there might still be some hope for Burzek stans. They haven’t given up on each other yet, so we shouldn’t either. I’m glad that the miscarriage didn’t completely ruin their relationship. They’re good together, so I’m glad they didn’t let this come between them. It’s One Chicago, so you never know for sure, but it look like there may still be some hope for Burzek after all.
Kim: From when I was pregnant to when I wasn’t, you’ve been there for me, and I appreciate it
Hailey: Told you we’re good together
Jay: You talk about being in the moment all the time. I was in the moment
Hailey: But we’re cops, so we also have to think about the family of the guy who got murdered. And that is the guy responsible for it.
Jay: You don’t get it. You’re not going home. You’re not going home for a long time
Hailey: I know how hard it is to leave him. I really do. You built a life with him. You love him. But deep down, you know you gotta get out.
Jay: He’s a violent criminal who beats women. What are we missing?
Adam: I’m still with you
Jay: Take another step and I’ll take your ass out
