Thirsty Thursday: Alberto Rosende Edition

When I met Alberto Rosende a few years ago, he was one of the kindest, humble, and sweetest human beings. He was so thankful for his new found job – Simon Lewis in Shadowhunters.

We talked about my feelings on Shadowhunters and his. We talked about his love of the fandom and the people, and our mutual admiration for Cassie Clare.

And at the end of the night he said told me to keep doing what I was doing and basically to embrace my truth. He made an impression.

I watched an episode of him on Chicago Fire and I smiled. He made me miss him even more. I may not have loved Shadowhunters, but I did and do love Alberto Rosende.

And that’s why he is this weeks Thirsty Thursday.

Hey All! The Mayor of NYC officially decreed June 21st as @javiermofficial Day! This year is the first anniversary. I am honored to be a part of a day of activism for HIV/AIDS thru @red . In honor of celebrating World Pride and the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, and to support the AIDS fight, (RED) is selling T-Shirts which donate 100% of the proceeds from every purchase to the Global Fund to fight AIDS. And in case you don’t know what the Global Fund is, it’s the world ‘war chest’ to fight not only AIDS, but also TB and Malaria. To date, the organization has saved 27 million lives, and has enabled 17.5 million people living with HIV to access life-saving treatment. It really is a miracle organization and their work is critical. Best of all, every cent raised by (RED) and through initiatives like this helps further their work where it’s needed most. To order a shirt, swipe up in my insta story or check out the link in my bio! Thank you so much for your help and support!!

HIS OPEN HEART AND WANT TO BE THERE FOR OTHERS

This picture was taken May 7th of 2013, a day many know as Victory over Europe Day But to me it is known as VT Day or Victory over Tumor Day. April 30, 2013 I call D-Day (Diagnosis Day) a day that, in my life, will forever be known as the day everything changed. I haven’t talked about it too much on social media these past few years because it is hard to talk about such a personal experience. When asked to speak about it or write about it, even when trying to just understand it myself, words seem to escape me. I was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer in April of 2013. I was 20 years old and at the time, I swore that I was invincible. This diagnosis rocked my world and made me feel alone and scared. I had no knowledge of TC. My only understanding of cancer was not one with a very positive outcome. I knew that the battle was set to be a hard one. I questioned whether or not I was strong enough to handle this burden that life had given me. Could I win this fight alone? I was never alone. The minute I was diagnosed I realized how important my support system really was, how often I had in fact taken it for granted. When you get diagnosed with cancer, it’s not just you that gets diagnosed. Everyone around you who loves you gets diagnosed as well. You become a team, fighting a battle together. You also become part of a bigger club, a club the size of which is impossible to grasp until your a part of it. I write this today to tell each of you that you are part of this club and just spreading the word is good enough. With enough education and understanding we can eradicate this disease and help ensure that it becomes a thing of the past. I am lucky to have the opportunity to not only share my story but to also let other men know that they are not alone in this fight! Together we are strong enough and together we can win. In my bio is the link to my Movember page where you can donate to helping Men’s Health issues. I will be posting during the month of November with facts and ways in which you can help. Thank you for taking the time to read this long post. Thank you for helping be a force for positive change in the world. And don’t forget gentlemen, CHECK YOUR NUTS!
