I never in my life thought I would be writing the words: I admire Kelly Osbourne, but I do. Honesty is refreshing, and to know that a celebrity is going through the same things that others are is kind of refreshing.
Kelly showed off a 85 pound weight loss on her Instagram, and rather than telling fans that it was some fad diet she admitted that she had the Gastric Sleeve surgery on a podcast.
Having had this surgery myself, I know that it’s not an easy thing to go through or talk about.
The star was on the Hollywood Raw podcast, and talked about how shee lost all the weight.
“I had surgery, I don’t give a fuck what anyone has to say,” Osbourne shared in a conversation with podcast hosts Adam Glyn and Dax Holt. “I did it, I’m proud of it, they can suck s—. I did the gastric sleeve. All it does is change the shape of your stomach. I got that almost two years ago.”
“I will never ever, ever lie about it, ever. It is the best thing I have ever done,” Kelly said. “The kind of surgery I had… if you don’t work out and you don’t eat right, you gain weight. All it does is move you in the right direction… So, anyone who’s thinking of doing something like this, really think about that.”
The Gastric Sleeve isn’t the easy way out. It’s a tool that helps you start your weight loss journey, but to get there you still have to eat correctly, exercise, and in some cases, to be honest – it is harder than anything you have ever done. I say that because personally, I have been recovering from mine for 3 years, and still have complications after a 200 pound weight loss.
Kelly has adopted a fitness routine, and is reportedly enjoying a vegan lifestyle. She underwent a year of intense therapy before the surgery.
What people don’t understand is that food is an addiction, and for some it is a way to deal with the emotions that they can’t deal with. At least that is what it was for me.
I admire Kelly for coming forward and being honest. It is nothing to be ashamed of, on any level.
And she looks beautiful at any weight, but we’re glad that she’s healthy and happy.
