We have some exciting news, Chihards! Every day brings us closer to episode 8×01 of Chicago PD and while the actors begin filming the new season in Chicago, we will try to contain our anticipation with news of what’s in store for us in Season 8.
Chicago PD will be exploring a very timely subject matter in its upcoming season. That news comes along with the revelation that the show will also be seeing some casting changes in Season 8.
Thanks to TvLine, we have some details about that upcoming storyline for next season, as well as some casting news:
- Lisseth Chavez, who played Vanessa Rojas, will not return for Season 8 after landing a recurring role on The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow.
- Nicole Ari Parker will recur during Season 8 as Deputy Superintendent Samantha Miller.
- Originally from Atlanta, Samantha Miller is “a progressive, ardent proponent of police reform” according to the official character description. “She wants to help Voight and Intelligence adapt to the new reality, but will not tolerate breaches of the new police guidelines and protocols”
- Parker is set to make her debut as Samantha Miller in the season premiere.
I’m sure it’s no surprise to anyone that recent events will be addressed in the upcoming season of Chicago PD. Police reform has been a heavily discussed and debated topic lately, so it only makes since that the writers would bring it up in the newest season. It’ll be interesting to see how this topic and storyline will affect Intelligence.
I’m sure Nicole Ari Parker will make a great addition to the One Chicago family. However, with this newest casting announcement comes a question I’m sure is on everyone’s mind: How will Rojas exit the show? It’s anyone’s guess, but the unplanned Season 7 finale leaves us with some interesting theories.
Great to hear that Voights character was a returning. Would love to see Haley gone.. she is useless and we need something new. Kim & Adam need to hook up as they left off last season with the loss of their pregnancy. I am excited to see Kevin stand up to BULLIES in the CPD and not allow discrimination. Can’t wait to see where it goes, but a little frightening with Louisville, Kenosha & Portland. Can’t wait for another good season.
