A lot is going on. All the time. Everywhere. And we publish a lot of content every week, some of it breaking news, other more editorial stuff, as well as reviews and teases of shows and movies to come. We understand you can’t always be on top of everything. And as such, you might miss stuff we wish …well, you wouldn’t.
So, every week, I’m going to comb through the site and point you, once again, to the stuff you should take the time to read. Either because it’s really funny, or because it’s a particularly good take, or just because I liked it. This is my list, after all.
Here are my picks for the 5 can’t miss Fangirlish articles of this week:
Every once in a while one of us will write an article that feels like comes from very deep, something that’s more “I have to write this” than “I should write this.” This week it was Beata’s turn, though a part of me thinks she also really did need to write this, at least in the sense that we all need to be talking about shitty media companies like Barstool and how they culture they have perpetuated hurts not just women in sports, but sports in general. If you only read one thing on Fangirlish this week, make it this.
But, if you want something more Fangirlish-style, do yourself a favor and read Shelby’s love letter to Vision, a character who has never gotten as much love as he is getting these days, with all of us entranced by WandaVision. Seeing him through Wanda’s eyes, and with the perspective of a show that allows Paul Bettany to show us how good of an actor he is, Vision has shined and become so many people’s new favorite, and Shelby perfectly expresses why he deserves the love. Also, my girl is killing it will all the WandaVision coverage, so make sure to check that too.
One of our favorite new ideas is talking about our favorite OTPs and then comparing it with another OTP that you might like if you like the same original OTP we do. This week Jasmine talks about two of her favorite OTPs, and why, if you loved After‘s Hessa, you will love Bliss and Dusty, complete with some of the best moments for each couple. If you’re a fan of the dynamics of one, well …you might just want to follow Jasmine’s advice and give the other one a chance.
Raquel wrote a review for every episode of Fate: The Winx Saga, but it’s in her review of the final episode of the season that she really goes deep into what this show did well, where the characters ended up, and also, what she would like to see in a possible season 2. If you enjoyed the journey of this show, and its characters, this review is a must because you can tell Raquel really enjoyed the show, and she put some effort and appreciation into these reviews.
9-1-1: Lone Star might be the spinoff, but sometimes we feel like we love it as much, if not a bit more, than the original 9-1-1. Blasphemy, we know! But if anything, this show is really worth a try, whether you enjoy procedurals in general, or just the original show, and Jessica’s reviews always manage to convey how much she truly enjoys the show. Also, have we mentioned Gina Torres? Because Gina should be enough reason for you, if we’re being honest.
This goes in this category because …well, it’s under my byline, though it’s a collaboration between me and Jade, as most things Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist are these days. In this one we go into the why the “love triangle” on the show is a thing of the past, and Clarkeman is absolutely the endgame, no ifs or buts about it. Which, I mean, we’ve been singing that tune for ages, now we just have proof.
