A lot is going on. All the time. Everywhere. And we publish a lot of content every week, some of it breaking news, other more editorial stuff, as well as reviews and teases of shows and movies to come. We understand you can’t always be on top of everything. And as such, you might miss stuff we wish …well, you wouldn’t.
So, every week, I’m going to comb through the site and point you, once again, to the stuff you should take the time to read. Either because it’s really funny, or because it’s a particularly good take, or just because I liked it. This is my list, after all.
Here are my picks for the 5 can’t miss Fangirlish articles of this week:
This is one of those articles that’s both hilarious and actually informative in regards to what Bridgerton is, and also a little bit what romance tropes are, and oh yes, it’s also pretty on point about what I like, so kudos to Julie for hitting the trifecta there. If you’ve ever wondered what your Bridgerton crush said about your ideal man, well, Julie’s got an answer for you …and I think you’re probably gonna like it!
It feels like we have to write an article like this every few months, and it still holds as true as ever. Romance novels aren’t just a guilty pleasure, and they aren’t just trash. The genre gets a bad rap and zero respect, but Jacqueline very clearly explains why romance novels are much more than what critics say about them, and not only that, she makes a good case as to why everyone should be reading romance.
Britney Spears has been in the news a lot lately, and we all watched the Framing Britney Spears documentary and felt a little like 😱😱😱. If you didn’t, Jasmine did the hard work of breaking down all the important points for you, and even if you did, she also does a great job at going deep into why the things we learned about Britney’s past should shape the way we fight for her today.
We were low-key excited for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and then we watched the trailer for it and we were high-key excited, and of course, Shelby, our resident Marvel queen, explains why better than anyone. It feels so good to be this excited about the future of the MCU, and the chemistry between Mackie and Stan is perfect for the kind of show this seems to be, so count us in. Also, SHARON CARTER YAAAAAAAS.
We were all heartbroken about the cancellation of Wynonna Earp, none more so than Lyra, who has written about this show lovingly for years. Which is why it stands to reason that her latest article, about how this doesn’t have to be the end to something that meant so much to so many people, hits straight in the feels. We don’t want to let go, we really, really don’t.
