What an episode! Thank goodness Cruz isn’t dead! And I’m so glad Grainger is back. I think he’s a good match for Sylvie. And thank goodness Stellaride is happy again! There were so many good ship moments this episode. This was just an all-around good episode of Fire. There were some not-so-great moments, but all-in-all, Chicago Fire‘s “Dead of Winter” was a feel-good episode.
Brett and Grainger
The Brett and Grainger content this episode was everything. Their flirting was adorable, and I kind of loved Grainger teasing Brett about the clowns. Thank goodness Stella was able to read the room and convince Brett to go for it. I’m actually all for Brett and Grainger. I feel like they make a cute couple, and if that’s what Brett needs right now then she should go for it.
I’m totally okay with a Brett and Grainger relationship. Sylvie deserves a healthy, uncomplicated relationship. I’m still all for Brettsey, don’t get me wrong, but hear me out. I think Brett needs to have a relationship with another guy in order to realize her true feelings for Casey and that they’re not just gonna go away. I’m all for a Brett and Grainger relationship while Brettsey figures things out.
Cruz finally announced Chloe’s pregnancy, and the reactions were priceless. Seeing how happy everyone was for him made me so happy. And Joe’s reaction when he found out they’re having a boy was so precious. I’m so glad Cruz is finally getting the family and happiness he deserves. His happiness makes me happy.
All I’m saying is that Cruz better name his baby boy Brian or something after Otis. Cruz and Otis had such a special bond that I feel like it would be odd if Cruz didn’t name his baby after him. Especially since Otis was his best friend. Also, I hope Stella and Severide are asked to be the godparents. That little boy is going to be so loved by not only Cruz and Chloe, but everyone at 51.
I love it when Casey and Severide go all detective. This time, they brought Ritter into it, too. The way they pieced this case together was impressive. We’ve seen them do it before, but this time they worked with practically nothing since it was all cleaned up. Thank goodness Casey had a side construction job, or they might not have solved this case.
Seriously though, if Intelligence ever needs help on a case, they should definitely call Casey and Severide. They’re naturals and would fit right in on PD. I think the way they solved this case with practically no evidence would impress even Intelligence. Maybe Intelligence could learn a thing or two from them.
Stand Out Scene
Stellaride is being all adorable again and I love it. Happy Stellaride is the only Stellaride I want. Hearing them make plans for a getaway was so cute, and I hope it actually happens. After what they just went through, it will be good for them to get away just the two of them. No distractions, just enjoying each other’s company.
Stellaride going on a trip to the cabin is the content we deserve. There’s been a lot of talk in the One Chicago fandom that Severide is going to propose to Stella at the cabin, and I need it. Give it to me. Even if we don’t get a proposal, I just want to see domestic Stellaride at the cabin being all romantic. We deserve it after watching what they just went through.
Stella: Icy roads, snow-covered driveway, subzero temperatures, and the two of us? Sounds hot.
Cruz: Kelly Severide is dispensing relationship advice?
Severide: A little while back I decided to keep the truth from Kidd, thought I was protecting her, and instead I almost lost her.
Boden: Never took your name off the list.
