Welcome back Grown-ish fans! This weeks’ episode was heartbreaking to watch.
Between Jazz and Doug, and Zoey the college dropout, I don’t know who I felt worse for. Aaron’s girlfriend is getting on my last nerve, let me just put that out into the universe, I need her to move on so Aaron and Zoey can be together forever this time. I also need Viveck to stop lying to his new girlfriend, dude she is gonna break up with you either way, so just tell her the truth and be free. All of these children need to stay home and read a good book, they all need a break from each other and their rocky love lives. So much went down in this week’s episode of Grown-ish 3×13 “No Halo,” so lets start to unpack it, shall we?
Burden of Truth

Jazz and Doug were my power couple for a while. I’ve rooted for them, and I like them together. I also understood Jazz’s reasoning for wanting to take a “break” so she could concentrate on track and field and maintain her scholarship. What I don’t understand is Jazz’s one night stand with some guy from the track team. Jazz, if your going to have a one night stand do it with someone you will never see again! Not a dude on your own track team!
Everyone is surprised but supportive of her decision to just have sex free of emotional ties, especially Ana. At first it seems like Jazz is going to be just fine with this choice, until she is approached by both Doug and her one night stand at the same time! Ruh Ro!
Okay, first of all the one night stand dude is an idiot, to even approach her the next day, but whatever, I know the writers needed a plot set up so I will allow it. Jazz feels hella GUILTY. Everything is just so disjointed now, Jazz is being wild and free, Zoey is never around, Ana is celibate, and Viveck has real girlfriend. What is happening?! I feel like to many changes are happening at once and I’m not prepared guys! I was however glad to see that some things never change, when Zoey runs into Aaron at Titanium.
Listen, regardless of Aaron’s current relationship status, he will always trust and need Zoey. He looks to her for support and she him, can they just kiss already and be together?! Gah! I heart these too. Aaron confides in Zoey that his student loan debt could be wiped away if he signs an NDA with Cal-U. Seems great right? No student loan debt, but at what cost to Aarons moral code? Who do you think Aaron discussed this with first? Zoey, not his girlfriend. I rest my case. Make it happen, writers.
Make Up to Break Up

Viveck has been a drug dealer since season one. Everyone on campus knows this, except his new girlfriend. How is this possible? What’s funny is Viveck actually tells her the truth, complete with his hospital stay for getting beat up by drug dealers, but then plays it off as a joke. This is going to come back to bite you in the ass, Viveck. Have you learned nothing from Jazz, you can’t lie to the ones you love. The situation Viveck has gotten himself into will set up a nice season finale though.
Poor Jazz, I mean, when she started crying on that couch, I wanted to hug her. Jazz is the more compassionate twin, because Sky gives zero fucks. Jazz is the one who reaches out to Doug, to tell him the truth about what happened and her one night stand. I like the way the writers twisted the narrative here. Usually it’s the guy who is apologizing to a teary eyed girl for betraying them, but in this situation, Doug was the one hurt and left alone. Doug accepted Jazz’s apology, sorta, but then drops another bomb. Doug tells Jazz he has slept with no other girls because he was waiting on her! Shit. Just walk away Jazz, there is not much you can say after that.
There was a group hug session, back at the house, another thing Zoey couldn’t be a part of because she is a working girl now. Don’t feel bad Zoey, you pay your rent there just like everyone else! You should really consider going back to school though, like Sky told your ass, “How are you going to get a 401K and a decent husband?” LMAO! Until next week ya’ll.
