A lot is going on. All the time. Everywhere. And we publish a lot of content every week, some of it breaking news, other more editorial stuff, as well as reviews and teases of shows and movies to come. We understand you can’t always be on top of everything. And as such, you might miss stuff we wish …well, you wouldn’t.
So, every week, I’m going to comb through the site and point you, once again, to the stuff you should take the time to read. Either because it’s really funny, or because it’s a particularly good take, or just because I liked it. This is my list, after all.
Here are my picks for the 5 can’t miss Fangirlish articles of this week:
Emma Booth plays Molly McGee in the mystery, and with a hint of supernatural, thriller known as The Gloaming. Premiering March 21st at 9/8c on Starz, it tells the story of a brutal murder and the connections to the past that it unearths in modern day Tasmania. And what starts out as an murder investigation spirals into occult practices and shady business dealings. Molly, her daughter, and her partner are pulled into the tragic past discovered in The Gloaming. And they learn that it takes a harrowing journey to figure out what is real, what is fate, and what are the remnants of the past around to haunt those still living.
As you may have noticed, we here at Fangirlish LOVE romance novels. We love how they bring us joy and how there really is a romance out there for everyone. This time, we’d like to focus on Canadian romance novelists, aka novelists who write in Canada. The unsung heroes of Canadian literature. Sadly, Canadian media and big bookstores are missing out on an opportunity to promote these amazing writers – we will not. So here are some books by Canadian authors you should absolutely check out!
We love A Week Away! It’s fresh, fun, different, romantic and … a musical! We had a chance to chat with its stars Bailee Madison, Kevin Quinn, Jahbril Cook and Kat Conner Sterling about the movie, what they learned from this experience, and if they would be in for a possible sequel in addition to enjoying exclusive clips of the film. Ready? Here we go!
When I was a kid, I was obsessed with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I had the action figures, clothes, shoes, playsets, you name it. When the live-action TMNT movies came out, I begged my mom to take me. Fortunately for me, she obliged. I must have seen the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film at some point before seeing Secret of the Ooze (though I have no memory of it) because I remember being annoyed at some of the changes. Despite that, I still loved the movie. Were you a Turtle fan back in the day? Check out the trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze and we’ll get started with #WayBackWednesday.
Webtoons are another avenue for you to find LGBTQ content to consume. From romance to fantasy, there’s a little bit of something for everyone from some of the most creative minds out there. So check out our list of 7 LGBTQ+ webtoons you should be reading in 2021! And when you’re done make sure to tell your friends and show the authors some love. You never know what could happen if the attention they get is far and wide….maybe enough to get them a Netflix deal like the last favorite one on this list did…
