She’s back! And by she, I mean me and by back I mean my what the fuck with Manifest. No one can say I didn’t like a few episodes, cause I did. And hey, that’s why I won’t give up on Manifest, because I go through these up and down moments with this show and I refuse to believe that it will always be bad.
I will say this, with every episode the show advances the storyline and I get that. But what pisses me off so much about this show is that nothing is ever tied up, there are no conclusions to anything, and it feels like they throw a dart at a board and are like okay, here we go, we’ll do this bullshit today.
And I don’t want to feel like everything is bullshit.
I want to feel like something is happening where storylines are tied up, I am not in church, and as if there is an endgame. And I know that people feel like there is, but I just don’t feel that.
But let’s dive into Tail Spin.
BEN SHOULDA KEPT A PROMISE
We all know that I have a love/hate relationship with Ben. I think he’s a good Dad, but I think he needs to remember he’s not a superhero and he’s a professor. He’s not meant to be out there solving this shit.
It’s been two months and his hand is lighting up like a beacon. He knows in his heart that he needs to go to the tail fin, but he can’t get ahold of Vance. If we’re being real, he can’t be surprised. He betrayed Vance and opened his mouth about shit that he shouldn’t have.
Sometimes he needs to learn to trust the process.
But he finally does get to Vance and is invited to the NSA with Saanvi. Vance has something to show them.
Remember at the end of the last episode when Vance had said “Eureka!” – well he has a point. The NSA has the plane there. They are studying everything and trying to make sense of everything.
Ben is being called to the tailfin but Vance wants to show them something first. Vance shows them a video – the tail fin was once there, but at the exact moment that the meth men drowned and the exact moment that Saanvi killed The Major is when the tail fin disappeared.
All of it doesn’t make sense. But we’re only just beginning there.
The tail fin doesn’t light up when Ben touches it and so hey, lightening doesn’t strike twice?
Saanvi and Ben are set to leave, when she runs into her old lab tech. He was recruited to copy her work. Ben asks Saanvi to cover for him, because his hand is lighting up and he is being called to figure out what is happening.
He goes through a door and finds his way to an 828’er who was shot, but is now being studied. She looks like she’s in an alien pod. Ben finds out that though she was shot, if anyone studied her it would seem like she drowned. That’s what all the signs point to.
This is just furthering the whole resurrection angle and I don’t buy that shit.
SOMEONE EXPLAIN ANGELINA TO ME
I don’t get Angelina and her connection to Pete. I feel like she’s a lot more like her parents than I thought but I also feel like she feels a need to save him, because he got a raw deal in life and she feels a connection to him because of the picture.
However I also know that when it comes to Manifest, nothing is at it seems.
Pete is in jail still and his death date is fast approaching. Angelina knows that he has a calling and turns to Michaela to help him solve it.
I am so not sure of why Michaela would, because of the danger that the three meth men of the apocalypse pose to Cal. But I also know that when it comes to this show, it’s really not up to me to understand anything.
Also the thing is Pete also won’t give her any information. The information that she’s able to get is because Zeke can feel all of Pete’s emotions.
The meth men’s calling was them running in a black space with a clock counting down.
Pete says that he’s able to recognize the clock from the football field where they used to play. And so Mic heads out there to see what’s up.
The coach tells Mic that he had to kick Pete and Jace off the team because they were dealing drugs and it resulted in the death of a team mate. I mean, I get what she’s thinking when she’s like it was a pretty big thing to leave out.
FOOTBALL AIN’T ALL IT’S CRACKED UP TO BE
Mic and Zeke head back to see Pete. Pete doesn’t want to tell them anything and you can tell that he’s pretty scared of what is happening. Zeke feels it. Michaela though doesn’t know what he’s up to.
He finally breaks and tells them that the coach was the one that forced them to sell drugs. He didn’t want to do it, but if they didn’t, coach would beat the hell out of them. The death wasn’t on them – it was the coach.
And Michaela goes back with her partner to see the coach they find the drugs, but also find that Jace shot the other meth man.
Somehow I am not sure how all of this helps Pete, but I do think that what it is meant to do is offer Pete some redemption. And hey, everyone deserves redemption.
But still don’t get why these three matter.
JARED NEEDS TO LEARN
Jared is annoying. Like really, I get that you want to be good at your job and like mad respect for that. But also, at what point do you realize when someone tells you that it may have something to do with Flight 828 do you stop and realize that it’s going to be stepping on someones toes.
And most likely you are going to put Michaela in danger.
I don’t care what anyone says, Michaela will always be the woman that Jared loves and wants to protect and he’s going to put her in harms way.
I do get that Sarah wants to find her Mom, but if we’re being honest, I don’t believe that she’s who she says she is.
I don’t know if it is that he wants to solve a case or he wants to figure out things because he thinks it is his road back to Michaela. But I have learned anything in this show is that you trust no one, believe no one and know that no one is who that they say they are.
Jared is going to close to figuring out the truth and I feel like that is going to be his downfall. I get that he wants to do so much, be so much, but I also feel like he needs to stop and shut the fuck up.
He is dedicated to his job and that is fine. That’s great. I am dedicated to mine, but I also feel as though there is a line. And that is when it’s like your eminent death.
- I am really not sure as to why Michaela can’t capture Jace. Like what is he? The devil? I mean it would make sense.
- They attempted to tie in the last episode and all the Egyptian stuff, but it fell flat and felt forced.
- There are a lot of drowning and water elements to the series, but in the same point, I hate that part.
- Osiris is interesting, but in the same breathe I feel like they barely touch upon it and if we start talking flying silver dragons again – I am going to think the writers are high.
- Olive going to her prom – I am so glad. She needs a somewhat normal life and that’s what she doesn’t have.
- I am really not missing Grace and I feel bad about that.
- I am really wanting to know what it is that Beverly plays into this story, because she has to or what is Michaela and Zeke taking care of her for? Are we finally gonna see them living a normal life? I mean, I would love to think so, but who knows.
- I don’t trust or like Angelina.
