Here’s the thing about new beginnings – the past isn’t always left behind. It’s shaped and formed into a new story, which isn’t always a bad thing. But when it comes with you, are you truly starting over?
But new beginnings sometimes means that you’re just starting something else in the midst of all the chaos of life. It can be said that everyday is a chance to start a new, but is that what we all do?
Again, who knows.
But for the cast of The Hills: New Beginnings, burying the past and setting new intentions doesn’t mean smooth sailing. And with this show, we know it’s bound to be drama.
Hell, that’s what we tune in for.
BRODY HAS CHANGED THE MOST
He’s definitely been through a lot – but haven’t we all. Covid changed everything for us all. Brody has realized that he has done a lot while drinking in excess and spending a year not chasing the hustle has made him reconsider what is important.
So Brody isn’t drinking. He’s tired of apologizing for the things that he said or did while under the influence.
When they were burying things that they wanted to leave in the past, he apologizes to Kaitlynn for the way he treated her, which was a big step. Apologizing for the past is never an easy thing. But it’s a necessary thing in order to move forward.
For him to apologize and for them to talk about their divorce and split, was a vulnerable moment. Maybe neither one of them were ready, maybe they were. But they are figuring it all out.
Discussing Kaitlynn’s relationship with Miley, that was a big thing and seeing how it affected both of them was a vulnerable moment. They have so much love for each other and they are able to talk through things. That’s a big step for both of them.
And a beautiful thing to see.
I am looking forward to seeing how they do or don’t get along during this season, because I do think that their relationship is important to each one of them. And I think that them being able to get along can inspire others and show that you don’t have to be enemies.
HEIDI WANTS ANOTHER BABY
But that’s part of the fun of the Pratt’s.
Heidi buried her birth control at the party. She’s ready to have a baby and shows that she wants one at every turn. She went to the store and seemed to buy every pregnancy test ever made.
Spencer doesn’t seem to be on the same page. Sure, he’s down for the sex, but the baby? And something that I never thought I would say, I agree with Spencer that it’s a lot of pressure with all the stuff that Heidi is doing.
I do hope that whatever their dreams are come true. I think that is the most that we can want for anyone.
I’ll never understand them, but you have to admit that they are intriguing. Even I can admit that.
BRANDON IS IN LOVE
Brandon is a romantic, but that’s part of what I love about him. He wants to have this grand romance, but he also got way into his head with Covid.
He met a girl named Dani, and when the lockdowns started, she moved in with him. They weren’t ready to live together and that caused its own set of issues. The two ended up breaking up, but Brandon doesn’t think that he can live without her. And he wouldn’t be good if she was with someone else.
So he decides to make a grand gesture, as any romantic would.
He picks her up and takes her for a picnic overlooking the city. He tells her he’s sorry and that he wants to put in the work. He wants to be with her. She’s blunt with him and tells him that it’s not all about grand gestures, but about putting in the day to day.
And he wants to do it.
I like seeing Brandon like this – because everyone deserves to be in love. Everyone deserves to be loved. And so to see him happy and trying – it’s a beautiful thing.
Covid changed a lot of us, but I think that one thing that it made us see is what we want out of life. Kudos for everyone working towards that goal.
AUDRINA IS READY TO MOVE FORWARD
I have to admit that I wouldn’t think that Audrina would be the person that I would relate to the most on this show, but I think she is. During Covid she got sick and that forced her to do a lot of self reflection and decided what she will and won’t put up with. She knows that settle and I think for her, that’s a positive thing.
I didn’t know that her and Brody were hanging out prior to Covid and they had a moment. They have always been flirty and they always have this angst between them. But up until now I have always thought that they weren’t ever on the same level. And I think that seeing them together – I was wrong. They are on the same level.
They are meant to be a part of each others life.
Audrina wants to move forward in her life and figure out all the things that she wants. She lets Heidi and Spencer set her up on a date, which I was shocked with. And the guy, Shawn Stewart (Rod Stewart’s son) didn’t seem like someone that she would date, but that’s what is best about The Hills, it’s full of surprises.
Letting go of the past is never easy, but moving forward can be even harder – especially if the people around you aren’t moving forward.
- I still think that this show under utilizes Jason and Ashley. His addiction story can change lives and help others.
- The first episode set up where people are right now – which I know we needed – but because of that, it felt a little slow.
- Watching them all at a party – even knowing that Covid protocols were followed, gives me some anxiety. I don’t know if I will ever be able to return to feeling comfortable in crowds, but I am glad that they do.
- I really am not emotionally invested in Justin Bobby.
- I’d also like to see more of Frankie and his wife. Frankie’s a name in Hollywood nightclubs and events, I think he’s gotta have something interesting going on.
I can’t wait to see how this season of The Hills: New Beginnings unfolds. Are you watching?
