Hello Grown-ish fans! Welcome back! Let’s get settled in for part two of the season premiere. There is a lot of DRAMA to discuss as well as some fall out to all that celebrating in Mexico. Ana gets some advice from Nomi and Jazz about her relationship with Javi, Zoey and Aaron deal with the outcome of their arrest and marriage, Doug and Luca continue their night on the town with two local girls, and Vivek actually gives some good advice to Javi. I know, I know, I can’t believe I said that last part too, but Vivek is not dumb, he just makes really dumb choices. Let’s jump right into Grown-ish, “Drunk in Love” shall we!
Jailbirds

Well Mexico is nice and all, beautiful beaches, good food, great tequila. However, it can go from wonderful to a HOT MESS real quick if you act dumb like Zoey and Aaron. These two! *face palm* I just can’t with them sometimes, they do bring out the best in each other, I will give them that, BUT, they also seem lose their minds when they come together as well. Case and point, their night on the town turned into them getting married and Zoey shoplifting, though un-intentionally. I really don’t think Zoey was in her right mind when she stole that piñata.
Honestly the entirety of “Drunk in Love” was foolish to me, if it were not for the entertainment it provided. Zoey and Aaron waited in the resort jail holding area, until Aaron decided to try and bribe an officer with American goods, at which point, Aaron was promptly arrested! Ha! Oh Aaron you dummy, you don’t bribe an officer of the law with sweat shirts, and sneakers, have you even seen Training Day?
Zoey meanwhile is still looking fabulous, but fretting over their current situation and how they ended up there in the first place. All of Zoey’s contemplating leads to an argument with Aaron who wants a divorce and who blames Zoey for landing them in jail in the first place. Zoey is stunned and retorts with, “Maybe we just bring out the worst in each other.” Which is so NOT true Zoey, you two just don’t fucking use your brains when you are drunk and in your feelings. No one does!
Zoey decides to tell the officers it was her who stole the piñata, NOT Aaron, and they throw her in jail for the night. Oh shit. Honestly it’s fine though, because she needed to learn how to use her fucking brain anyway. And Aaron slept outside of the jail until they released Zoey the next morning. So all’s well that ends well! Side note, Aaron and Zoey’s marriage is not even legal since they never had a blood test or something to that effect. Big yawn, to that storyline since we all knew it was going to end up annulled anyway.
Trust Issues

Guys, I am over Ana and Javi! BUT, I am really over Ana and her freaking dramatic, sometimes violent outburst. Ana, Javi never gave you chlamydia. He slept with a girl before he met you, and she tested positive but he tested negative. I honestly couldn’t figure out why she was mad? I wasn’t sure if she slept with Javi before he found out or after? I was utterly confused as to who should I should put the blame on.
Yes, Javi should not have said he was celibate because of his relationship with God. I do think that’s a lie, I think Javi became celibate after he thought he had contracted an STD and it scared him. Should Javi have slept with Ana unprotected after just having that scare? Hell no! Is Javi a dumbass? Yes! BUT Ana takes DRAMA to a whole other level, like for real, for real. Homegirl had her friends gassed up and ready to fight Javi for giving her and STD, when he doesn’t even have one! Honestly, Ana needs to deal with her trust issues like Javi and Jazz told her, because that’s really where all of her problems stem from.
Meanwhile, Luca actually speaks fluent Spanish and looooves tres leches cake. Who knew? He only pretended to not speak Spanish, to help out Doug who is still in his feelings about Jazz. Awww, Luca! I love him! In addition, Vivek dished out some much need advice to Javi, since no one else would talk to him. Even though Vivek lied to his girlfriend about his drug dealing, he knows it was wrong and he that he messed up. And he goes onto to tell Javi that trust is at the heart of any good relationship, you have to trust each other completely in order to make it work.
So true Vivek.
Too bad you learned this a little too late to save your relationship with Hedi. On a somber note, “Drunk in Love” ended with Vivek getting a message about COVID-19, which from the looks of it, these kids are NOT on our timeline, interesting… The gang reads the message and hope it doesn’t effect the U.S. as bad as it is effecting China and Europe. Oh guys! You are all in for a very long senior year!
