The worst kept secret in the Star Wars franchise has now been confirmed. Alden Ehrenreich is officially Han Solo.
Of course, this was first reported back in May, and as is the way with these things, had been assumed to be the truth, but today Ehrenreich took the stage in London, during the Star Wars Celebration and effectively made it official.
Among the details revealed during his appearance were that over 3,000 people auditioned for the role of young Han Solo, and yet Ehrenreich, the final choice, was the first to audition. Seems like destiny, right? He also said that he screen-tested on the Millennium Falcon and with Chewbacca, which just makes us more excited for this movie.
Chewbacca always makes us excited, what can we say?
No details on the plot yet – though the movie is expected to follow Han Solo before he met up with Luke Skywalker and became part of the Rebellion.
The film is set to begin filming in January/February of 2017. The as of yet untitled prequel will open in theaters on May 25, 2018.
Let’s see how it goes …
