I’m already writing the Disney streaming service into my budget, because lets all be honest, if you need one streaming service, this will be the one. Cable just doesn’t seem necessary anymore and someone needs to remind me to cut that cord.
One of the shows that I am looking forward to the most is Love, Simon which will air on the Disney + streaming network. The movie was life changing for so many and honestly, I feel like the television show will do the same.
Though I am still bitter and will remain bitter over the cancellation of Whiskey Cavalier, I am thrilled that Ana Ortiz has joined the cast of Love, Simon in a leading role. The actress will play Isabel, Victor’s mother.
Now, if you are wondering who Victor is, there are somethings that you should know. Even though the show bears the same name as the movie, it does not actually follow Simon. It follows a different young character named Victor.
Love, Simon, comes from This Is Us executive producers/co-showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who wrote the movie, and 20th Century Fox TV. The movie, which came out in 2018, followed Simon, a teenager that comes out to his classmates after an email he wrote to a boy falls in the hands of the class clown who blackmails him.
The movie was based on the book by Becky Albertalli’s Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, but Albertalli has said publicly that the series will not be based on the companion book, Lead and The Offbeat. The series is a spinoff of the Love, Simon world.
Greg Berlanti, who directed the film, is not involved.
