Looks like we’re getting more Dewell and Hoyt in our future. Big Sky has been renewed by ABC for a second season.
Big Sky, based on “The Highway” books by C.J. Box, stars Katheryn Winnick as Jenny Hoyt and Kylie Bunbury as Cassie Dewell. In the series, both women team up to search for two sisters who have been kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana. But when they discover that these are not the only girls who have disappeared in the area, they must race against the clock to stop the killer before another woman is taken.
If you have been keeping up with this season of Big Sky, then you already know the girls were rescued however, their kidnapper Ronald Pergman is still on the loose. With news of Big Sky heading into a second season, this has me wondering if the ladies will still be on the hunt for him then. My hope with the renewal of Big Sky, is for something different. While I’m enjoying the show, I would like to see more than the same old same old with the corrupt Sheriffs that Cassie and Jenny keep running into. I’m sure there is much more that can be done other than this.
According to Deadline, Elwood Reid, exec producer of The Chi and The Bridge, has been set as showrunner for Season 2. Reid came on board as exec producer in the back half of the first season and will take over the duties from creator David E. Kelley, who will remain as an exec producer and still will be involved creatively.
