“It’s Better to Burn Out than to Fade Away”
It’ll be okay. That was my first thought when I saw the tweet on the official Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D account, with the news that I thought was coming, but still wasn’t sure: the upcoming 7th season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will also be its last.
Next summer’s Season 7 will be the last for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Thanks to our fans for allowing us to be the longest-running Marvel TV series to-date. ❤ https://t.co/1PdHDDKXll

Now, I know this news will be met with sadness by the small but loyal fanbase the show has, but the more I think about this, the more I’m okay with it. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has flirted with cancellation for so long that each season we got after the 4th one felt like a extra Christmas gift we found hidden behind the tree. Most shows get lucky to get two seasons…we got SEVEN. Seven wonderful seasons of a show still on its A-game with great performances and episodes weekly. (Re-watch that first season and even the bad episodes have stuff in them to love. But that’s a discussion for another day.)
So AoS fans, enjoy these last episodes with our favorite agents. Hall H at SDCC will host a Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D panel later today that we suspect will rock the house. Also remember, we still have a season 6 to finish and then one more season to enjoy!
So to the cast and crew of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D who has worked on the show these seven seasons… we didn’t deserve you but we love you. And we’re well aware that we are the luckiest fans on any planet.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D airs Fridays at 8/7c on ABC.
