Another point I’d add about Benson&Stabler is that a portrayal of a man and a woman working together, caring for each other, and supporting each other outside of a romantic relationship is also a really good thing to have in and of itself. Given how many examples there are of co-workers falling in love, it’s nice to have at least one show acknowledge “how important two people can be for each other and how that can turn into genuine love” in a platonic relationship.

I also want to say that I agree with you about wanting to see more relationships after the partners get together, not just before. One of my many, many frustrations with The X-Files was that they basically told us that Mulder&Scully were a couple without actually letting us see that side of their relationship.

Many, many frustrations sounds familiar to me. 😂
