Brandon Routh is one of those people who always comes with a smile, and always seems to put a smile on our faces.
“What can I tease?” he contemplated, when we asked him to talk about Ray’s season 2 journey, and his pause as he contemplated was so long we almost feared the interview was destined to end prematurely. But it wasn’t. Brandon is also one of those actors who always has an answer about his character.
And, in Season 2, we can expect Ray Palmer’s journey to focus on the question of: “what does it really mean to be a superhero?” – especially when you get into the “is it the powers or is it the person?” of it all.
It’s an interesting question, and a good place to kick-start this new season of Legends of Tomorrow, not just for Ray, but for the team in general. Season 2, after all, feels more exciting and well, filled with possibilities than Season 1 ever felt. Maybe it’s the absence of a big bad. Maybe it’s the fact that these people already know each other. Or maybe, it’s the Justice Society of America.
“No one is more elated to meet them than Ray,” Routh teases, and he adds that this season “opens up an opportunity to have a bunch of people back,” on top of the JSA members we’ll be meeting. And that means new characters to interact with. Which, for a guy like Ray means a lot of potential new friends.
Because that’s who Ray Palmer is. That’s why we’ve grown to love him. And that’s why we’re as excited for the new season of Legends of Tomorrow as we’ve ever been for this show.
