Can’t say we are sad about this one at all – Luke Cage has been cancelled.
Netflix and Marvel released a joint statement in regards to the cancellation.
“Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”
The series comes as a surprise for to the fans. Critics liked the show (well… some did, some didn’t – but you know that’s life).
The Hollywood Reporter reported that the “cancellation was due to creative differences and the inability to agree to terms for a third season of the show.”
Netflix still has three Marvel shows left on the streaming service – Daredevil, Jessica Jones (which was renewed for a third season in April) and The Punisher (whose second season is due on 2019). Disney, Marvels parent company, is set to debut their own streaming service next year and will remove Marvel feature films from Netflix to run on the streaming service.
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher will remain on Netflix as part of the original deal.
