When a book is being made into a movie, there is a part of me that is always scared. I am always scared of people screwing it up. I am always scared of bad casting. I am always terrified that I will look forward to something and then it will just not be made.
The Thing About Jellyfish, is the story of a girl named Suzy who looses her best friend in an accidental drowning. Suzy, unable to cope with what happened, Suzy refuses to see it for what it is. So she goes on a quest to prove her theory, learning a lot about life and death in between.
The book is really good. And luckily for us there has been a casting that we can get onboard with. Millie Bobbie Brown has been cast as the lead in the adaptation.
One can not go wrong with Millie.
The book was the debut novel of Ali Benjamin and was a finalist for the National Book Award in 2015. It was optioned in 2015 and Universal is working on the adaptation with producers Gigi Pritzker and Rachel Shane of MWM Studios, Bruna Papandrea, and Reese Witherspoon.
You had us at Reese.
Kenyan film director Wanuri Kahiu, was also tapped to direct the adaptation.
