Watching Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and reading casting news for the sequel, is basically an exercise in how much you remember from the Harry Potter books and who, of all the characters ever mentioned, can concievably appear in the movies.
Turns out the answers when it comes to Nicolas Flamel is a resounding yes.
Pottermore anounced yesterday that Brontis Jodorowsky would play the famous alchemist who discovered the Elixir of Life. You super fans will remember him from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Jodorowsky joins a cast that counts among its new additions Wolf Roth as a character called Spielman; Call the Midwife star Victoria Yeates as Bunty; Derek Riddell as Torquil Travers; Poppy Corby-Tuech as Rosier; and Cornell S John as Arnold Guzman.
Though some of those names might not be familiar, Travers and Rosier are, and eagle-eyed fans will remember they were not exactly on the right side of the War against Voldemort.
Jessica Williams and Fiona Glascott have also been cast in the film, but their roles haven’t been revealed.
Alll of these newcomers join the main cast, of course, which includes Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein and Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski.
