We can count on one more familiar face to join us in a galaxy far, far away.
Billy Dee Williams, better known as the Lando Calrissian we grew up with, will be reprising his iconic role for Episode IX, THR reports.
Lando Calrissian made his debut in 1980’s Empire Strikes Back and hasn’t been seen since 1983’s Return of the Jedi.
The character, played by Donald Glover, had a major role in this year’s Solo: A Star Wars story, and though that movie wasn’t exactly a hit with critics or fans, Glover’s performance was lauded by even those people who disliked the movie. It seems like, one way or another, people always want more of Lando.
Episode IX (we’re still waiting on the official title) will be directed by J.J. Abrams and will once again star Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver. Keri Russell was recently announced to be in talks to join the cast.
Episode IX will open Dec. 20, 2019.
