Here at Fangirlish we continue to support your right to fangirl over any fandom you desire – whether that is a book, a TV show, a movie, or even sports. That’s why we have Stop and Fangirl! So you can feel happy – and confident, loving whatever it is you love.
This week is all cartoons, and more importantly, LGBTQ representation in cartoons. We pick off where the #GiveElsaAGirlfriend hashtag left off and talk about why this would be an awesome idea, what cartoons shaped our childhood and how those dealt with the issue of representation and we also discuss the erasure that goes on because of the misguided notion that kids need to be “protected” from something.
So, without further ado…stop and fangirl with us! And when you’re done, come tell us YOUR favorite cartoons, how they dealt with this subject and whether you want Elsa to get a girlfriend or not! (Yes)
