One of my favorite books is Tiny Pretty Things, by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton. The book is set in the competitive and dramatic world of ballet and is – well for lack of a better term, a page turner that you can’t put down.
I love a drama filled page turner that keeps me on the edge of my seat.
Netflix has picked up the book for a 10 episode series. And guys – SHOOTING IS ALREADY UNDERWAY!
If you’re worried about the cast – don’t be. Because it’s a good one. Lauren Holly (Designated Survivor, Dumb and Dumber), Kylie Jefferson (Davido’s Fall, SchoolboyQ’s Chopstix), Casimere Jollette (Code Black, Dirty John), Daniela Norman (Cats), Brennan Clost (The Next Step, Creeped Out),Michael Hsu Rosen (Jessica Jones, Broadway’s Torch Song), Damon J. Gillespie (Rise, The Society), Bayardo De Murguia (Shooter, Hombre), Barton Cowperthwaite (Center Stage: On Pointe, Fosse/Verdon), Tory Trowbridge(Broadway’s The Cher Show, American in Paris) and Jess Salgueiro (The Boys, Letterkenny) have all joined the cast.
Tiny Pretty Things is set in the world of an elite ballet academy. It follows the students as they are either on the rise and fall to greatness, in Chicago’s only elite dance school, the Archer School of Ballet. The school serves as the company school for the city’s renowned professional company: City Works Ballet. The Archer School has dancers from all walks of life: rich and poor, from north and south, etc. Yet they all share a talent and passion for dance and like most – when it comes to your dreams there is no other plan than making them come true.
