Wynonna Earp‘s ‘Forever Mine Nevermind’ reminded us how much of a badass Wynonna is, how fragile some relationships are, and how this little family is fighting to stay on top of things and united in a world just frothing at the mouth to tear them apart.
Let’s dive into ‘Forever Mine Nevermind’!
Backflip While Pregnant
I’m never going to be able to unsee this. This moment will be forever burned into my mind. Wynonna Earp did a backflip and trained with her sister while with child. And I understand that a bunch of stuff happened in this episode and maybe I should be focused on that but I can’t stop thinking about that backflip.
I have never seen a woman like Wynonna Earp before. I’ve never seen writing like this before. And my hope, and the hope of the writers and the creator of Wynonna Earp is to inspire young men and women that are watching this show now, to create unique characters that don’t fall into the same mold. They’re achieving that and more.
Wynonna Earp didn’t just sit down and relax because she was pregnant. She’s out and about trying to protect her family, her friends, and the town of Purgatory. She’s got no time for people telling her what she can’t and can do. She did a backflip. I’m pretty sure she could do anything while eating a bowl of ice cream and flipping you off.
Rosita is a Revenant
This kind of revelation and the fact that Rosita just started bonding with the Earp sisters is the right kind of drama. Although I was hoping that she was a lizard/dragon like Dolls, I think it was good to have Rosita being something that they fought against so hard in season one.
Her revenant status makes you look back at all the revenants that Wynnona’s killed in a slightly different light. They still acted evil and deserved to be put down, but now there’s a spark of curiosity in me and in viewers that some of these people might have been caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Some of them chose to be evil and let hell tear apart at them and then there are people like Rosita.
I’m really interested in learning about her past and how she came to know Doc and what’s going to happen next. With Waverly feeling like she can’t share this part of herself with Wynonna and the fact that she’s mad at Nicole, will lead to some interesting conversations and scenes between Waverly and Rosita. It’s going to cause some trouble initially, the shifting dynamics and relationships, but it will ultimately lead them to being a stronger team.
I can’t wait.
Wynonna and Dolls? Or Wynonna and Doc?
When first presented with the news that there was going to be a love triangle on Wynonna Earp, I was hesitant. Every other love triangle that I’ve ever seen has dragged on, caused needless drama, and fell into the same cliches over and over again. But again, this is Wynonna Earp and they don’t do anything the same way as everyone else.
Wynonna is trying to figure out how to have a relationship with Dolls and Doc while taking care of herself and looking out for the future of her unborn child. She’s not perfect nor does she know what she’s going to do at the end of the day, but she’s trying. And that’s what counts the most. Sure there are moments where they realize the situation they’re in and that things are difficult, but they don’t fall into the typical angst of a love triangle on TV.
And quite honestly, I really don’t care who she ends up with or if they end up in a threesome kind of situation. I know Wynonna will choose what’s best for her and her child while trying to keep her little family together. She’s grown from the woman that she was in the first episode of season one. There’s more responsibility on her shoulders, and sure it scares the living hell out of her, but I believe in Wynonna Earp and her decisions no matter what.
Favorite Scene from Wynonna Earp‘s ‘Forever Mine Nevermind’:
It feels like Wynonna has accepted her pregnancy and the baby as an extension of herself. Now she’s high-fiving her/him, congratulating others with her bump, or stopping a fleeing Doc in his tracks.
Wynonna Earp airs Fridays at 10/11c on Syfy.
