Inspired by Edith Wharton's unfinished novel set in the 1870s, The Buccaneers follows five American friends — Nan (Kristine Frøseth), Conchita (Alisha Boe), Lizzy (Aubri Ibrag), Mabel (Josie Totah), and Jinny (Imogen Waterhouse) — to England, where they strengthen their sisterhood, experience complex (to say the least) love stories, and shake up society. Creator Katherine Jakeways builds on Wharton's text to construct a glamorous yet grounded world of adventure, drama, and romance set to an excellent soundtrack and full of interesting characters played by a fantastic cast. Some of whom include Christina Hendricks, Mia Threapleton, Guy Remmers, Matthew Broome, Josh Dylan, and Barney Fishwick.

The Buccaneers is a must-watch, refreshing take on the historical drama with complex female friendships, (mostly) swoon-worthy romances, and a perfect soundtrack.
