It’s already time for the season finale — The Buccaneers 1×08, “Wedding of the Season.”
An eight-episode season has flown by after a three-episode premiere that snowballed into a series about love in all of its forms. “Wedding of the Season” finds the perfect backdrop to encapsulate those themes in Nan and Theo’s wedding. Since their engagement in 1×02, “Women or Wives,” the show has chronicled their will-they-won’t-they relationship with a countdown to their nuptial as Nan’s feelings for Guy Thwarte grew – and vice versa.
Even when her possible future with either boy seemingly dissolves by the end of The Buccaneers 1×07, “First Footing,” Nan still needs to decide her future during this season finale — or at least a path for it. The photos for “Wedding of the Season” suggest that this love triangle is far from over to further complicate matters. Time will only tell what that means for this anticipated wedding and Guy’s off-screen engagement to Jean Hopeleigh.
Nan isn’t the only character at a crossroads with “Wedding of the Season.”
Jinny feels trapped, and while the synopsis doesn’t divulge specifics, Seadown’s season-long abuse is reason enough. It’s concerning to imagine how his behavior will escalate. However, maybe more people than Lizzy and Honoria will become aware of Seadown’s monstrous behavior. Perhaps — hopefully, even — it’s not a coincidence that The Buccaneers‘s season finale will see Patricia reckon with the state of the St. George family.
