What are you most looking forward to seeing from Pitch going forward? Are there characters you want to see more of? Relationships you particularly enjoy? Storylines you’d like them to try out?
Beata: Can I say everything? Of course I can say everything, I wrote the question. In all seriousness though, I’m really excited to see more of Livan Duarte, particularly his relationship with Ginny. He’s a total jerk, but he also has a really interesting backstory and I think there’s a lot the show can do with his story in a potential season two. We haven’t seen much of him and Ginny together yet, but the few scenes we got last episode were enough for me to want more.
Lizzie: I’m mostly looking forward to how they develop Mike and Ginny’s relationship, and I don’t even mean in the romantic sense, though I can clearly see they’re going there. I, however, want to see them grow as friends – whether that is while in a relationship or outside of it. (Hey, FOX, one more reason to renew the show). I want to see Mike and Ginny becoming each other’s person, sorta like Blip and Evelyn. The beginning stages are all nice and fine, but I want to see them be a team of two. Mike and Ginny against the world.
I also look forward to more Amelia/Ginny. And more Ginny/Blip. And Ginny/Evelyn. And Blip/Mike. And Ginny/Al. Honestly, there’s not one relationship in this show I don’t enjoy, because they all feel so real. So what I really need is like, 20 more episodes of these characters. How about it, FOX?
Erin: That’s the thing – I don’t really know. Because I feel like these writers are absolutely amazing and are unraveling this story at a great pace. They seem to have this together and I respect them so much for them. This show feels like real life and I love that feeling.
Charles: I’m looking forward to seeing what Ginny does in the offseason. What is a ball player life like when they are not working for months on end? I want to see an arc of Ginny being a mentor to her own rookie or having to play against a big team in the playoffs or World Series. I would love to see more of Eliot and Amelia, they have had some great moments but I feel they can have many more. As for relationships, don’t mess with perfection and to me that Mike and Ginny’s relationship. As a fan, I want them to get together but I don’t want the show to rush it either. They can take their time and let “Bawson” continue to grow and progress at its natural pace.
Meredith: More Bawson! (Ginny Baker and Mike Lawson). This dynamic really is the heart of the show, and whichever direction they go with it (I hope it’s a slow burn romance so much!) I’m excited to watch it play out. The chemistry between Mark-Paul and Kylie is out of this world, and there are so many interesting things that can happen with that friendship/partnership/relationship.
Also, like I said before – more Eliot!
Kate: I would love to see the show explore the impact of Ginny being sent back to the minors. Maybe Gin-sanity fades and/or she has a string of bad outings. It would be realistic to have the Padres consider sending her down. How would Ginny feel going back to AAA ball? How would it impact her confidence? What would it do to her to be separated from her surrogate family with Blip and Evelyn? What kind of strings would Amelia pull with Oscar and the Padres organisation to try to keep her in the spotlight, in the majors? How would her absence affect Mike, for whom Ginny is a bright spot in an increasingly bleak personal life? It feels like there is a lot to mine here, as well as an opportunity to introduce some new characters on the AAA club.
Ann: As I said earlier, Evelyn is one character I want to know more about. She’s more than a ball player’s supportive wife and another ball player’s best friend.
Arcs – Ginny clearly wants to build a family among the teammates she has now. Baseball is such a dynamic business, with trades, injuries, and so on. Watching her deal with changes, especially now that Mike is going through his own battles, is interesting to me. I want to see more of Mike, too. He’s got a lot going on his life and not much of it is working out the way he wants it to. So what will he do?
And yes, Mike and Ginny. Lots and lots more of them. Evelyn and Blip are wonderful to watch as well.
Jen: More Eliot, more Evelyn. I need – NEED – a pining, jealous Mike in my life. Like air. I want to watch the relationship between Ginny and Mike build in a genuine way. Everyone else has said it, but it’s true, their chemistry is phenomenal.
Cor: Bawson! Duh! I am a romantic with commitment issues, so I get my ship fix on TV. Mike and Ginny’s relationship is one of my favorites. Mark-Paul and Kylie have a crazy and undeniable chemistry. She had his poster on her wall! She’s his person to talk to at night. I’ve enjoyed watching their relationship evolve from teammates to flirty friends. They both care for each other so much and it’s such a joy to watch. Mike is Ginny’s catcher (sorry, Livan!) and she’s his pitcher. They are a team within a team, and that’s one of my favorite tropes. I can’t wait to see that relationship grow!
I said above that I want more Oscar as far as singular characters go, and I stand by that.
Souris: I have to say, I enjoy pretty much every relationship we’ve seen so far — Ginny/Mike, Ginny/Blip, Ginny/Evelyn, Blip/Mike, Blip/Evelyn, Ginny/Al, Ginny/Amelia, Mike/Amelia. I’m a shipper at heart, but for pretty much the first time in my viewing life, I do NOT want to see a romantic relationship develop between the obvious romantic leads, in this case Ginny and Mike. I adore their supportive friendship as-is and feel like that is what Ginny most needs. Plus, Ginny clearly has some serious daddy issues and her relationship with Mike is a bit too close to that paternal relationship to make a romantic one comfortable for me. I won’t be surprised if the show goes there and it wouldn’t be a deal-breaker, but it’s not something I’d prefer.
