“Nolite te Bastardes Carborundorum.”
Yesterday, Hulu gave the new hit series The Handmaid’s Tale an early season two renewal just ahead of their fourth episode.
Season two of the hit Hulu drama will return for in 2018.
Starring Elisabeth Moss, The Handmaid’s Tale is based on Margaret Atwood’s critically acclaimed 1985 novel. Set in the Republic of Gilead, a dystopian dictatorship in the United States, we meet Offred (Moss), one of the few fertile women known as Handmaids. Taken forcibly from her family and given a new name, Offred becomes a reproductive surrogate to The Commander (Joseph Fiennes) and his resentful wife, Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hulu not only announced the renewal of The Handmaid’s Tale, but also stated that the premiere has been watched by more Hulu viewers than any other series, both original and acquired. The show launched its first three episodes on April 26th with the following episodes appearing on a weekly roll-out schedule.
The Handmaid’s Tale serves as an important cornerstone for Hulu’s scripted original content. In an age of competing with more and more platforms, Hulu hopes to rival its competitors on Netflix and Amazon.
All we can say, is that we cannot wait for the rest of season one and now season two of The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu!
