I thoroughly enjoyed this week’s episode of 9-1-1. “Fools” had the perfect mix of humor and drama. We got to see more of Eddie’s personal life; we witnessed a first date go terribly wrong; and a patient discovers something horrible about her husband.
My favorite part of the episode was definitely the date between Gary and Tessa. I was very intrigued when the show told us it was the worst first date ever. I love listening to the radio show “Second Date Update,” so I’ve heard my share of first date horror stories. And let me say, this really was the worst first date ever. I know she must have been humiliated, but I couldn’t help but laugh. This was so entertaining. Plus, Gary seemed to still like her. He seems like a winner. Hope it works out between them.
The other case this week was not so much fun. The patient has memory loss, headaches and is disoriented. It turns out she was shot. By her husband. Why did he shoot her? Because he was mad she was telling him to help with the decorations. He said he couldn’t handle spending another 30 years together in that house. Wow. What a guy. I hope this lady finds someone new and lives a much happier life without him.

Besides the cases of the week, “Fools” also dedicated some of the episode to the team’s personal lives. I think 9-1-1 has always been great at balancing personal and professional stories. This week, Eddie struggled with how to parent Christopher. I know raising a child with special needs must be hard, and I understand Eddie’s struggles.
He wants Christopher to have a good life, but he also knows he has physical issues and doesn’t want him to get hurt. Parenting is tough, but Eddie is such a good dad. And I always love seeing Christopher. I also wonder if we’re going to see more of that teacher? She and Eddie definitely would make a cute couple.
Josh also went on a date this week. Or at least he thought it was. Turns out, the guy played him. I absolutely hate that this happened to him. I also hate that he was embarrassed. The homophobic guys who jumped him are the ones who should feel shame, not Josh. This also makes me not want to online dating. You never know who you’re really going out with.
Other Thoughts:
- The guys at the beginning of the episode were complete idiots. If you’re going to do something stupid (something you could get arrested for), maybe you shouldn’t live stream it? Just a suggestion.
- Blood doesn’t bother me. But it really grossed me out when they pushed the eyes back into the guy’s head. I had to turn away from the TV.
- The jokes at the parent-teacher conference were so bad.
- Why is Buck single? You would think would have girls lined up to go out with him. The show needs to work on this. He needs a romance.
