It’s the middle of August which means it’s almost football season. We’re so excited for the NFL to be back on our screens. This time of the year also means it’s about the time when people start planning their fantasy football teams. And we may have some advice on how to help with that.
Most football fans will pick the players they think will score the most touchdowns or the defense that’s the strongest. They’ll debate which quarterbacks, wide receivers, and running backs will have the best chance to get them points. That’s a fine strategy. And may we suggest Alvin Kamara if you’re going this route? Not only is his arguably the BEST RB in the league (and will probably be the Saints offense this year since Drew Brees is gone and Michael Thomas is injured/has issues), but he’s hilarious and so much fun to watch.
But if you’re looking to have a little more fun with fantasy football or if you’re not a football fan, may we show you some of our favorite players? Let’s start with my favorite current player in the NFL, Emmanuel Sanders. Yes, he’s 34, and apparently that’s ancient in the sport (unless you’re Tom Brady who is going to outlive us all), but he’s still a top WR.
Need we say more? But if Sanders isn’t your type, you could always go with Jimmy Garoppolo, Russell Wilson, or Ryan Tannehill for your QB.
Another fun strategy for picking your fantasy football team is picking names you like. How can you resist picking Juju Smith-Schuster for your team? Or you could pick players based on who has the best hair, your favorite number, or which jerseys you like the best. Personally, I think the New Orleans Saints all black jerseys are really cool, but purple is my favorite color so I also have a soft spot for the Ravens jerseys.
Honestly, when you get to rounds 11 and 12, you’ll need some reason to choose a player because even dedicated sports fans will have never heard of most of these guys.
Just have fun with your fantasy team. And if you need a defense, you should pick the Broncos. Because they’re my team. And Justin Simmons is the best safety in the NFL.
Fangirlish is not responsible if your fantasy football team doesn’t do well this season.
