The trailer for Motherland: Fort Salem‘s season 2 finale promises pain. With the witch plague at their home, our favs will be tested in a manner they have never been before. Sacrifices will have to be made, alliances will form, and we will see what Raelle, Abigail, and Tally are truly made of. And since we’re brimming with theories, we wanted to sit down and break down key theories that we get from the trailer.
On a special note, the only theory that we will NOT dive into because denial is a strong thing, is the one where Scylla intervenes and Raelle has to watch as she perishes or becomes part of the Mycelium. The latter would hurt more because Raelle will be able to feel Scylla but never be with her. And we don’t believe Eliot Laurence would do that to us, right? RIGHT?!
1. Our squad will all connect to the Mycelium.
The Mycelium is one of the greatest powers that our witches have. And if they’re going to find a way to defeat the witch plague, they’re going to have to do it together. They’re vastly different women with skills that complement each other and make them a force to be reckoned with. They will survive this next challenge. They just have to for fear of all our hearts breaking because of how much we love Raelle, Abigail, and Tally.
2. Tally and Gregorio will finally share a kiss.
Look, we’ve been seeing the signs. There’s something brewing between Tally and Gregorio. And yes, things are tense and maybe we shouldn’t be wishing for a kiss. But times are desperate and you don’t know when your last moment will be. So, express yourself, Tally! Let her know how you feel, Gregorio. Plus we think Tally deserves a man that would go against their own general for her.
3. Alder dies in Anacostia’s arms.
With Alder’s reputation in tatters and her rank taken from her, it’s the perfect time plot-wise to kill her. Seriously, if they need a way to cement her legacy and show witch kind the power and might of who they are as a community, then Alder’s death would be a perfect catalyst. I don’t want her to die because Lyne Renée is an absolute BAMF when it comes to her role as Alder. But plot-wise it makes sense. Also, imagine if Alder is reunited with her family in the Mycelium? We will cry.
4. Witches will work with the Spree to defend ALL of their kind.
The U.S. government isn’t going to like the witches under their control working together with the Spree. But with the witch plague ravaging witches, things will get desperate, and Nicta will work with the Army as a means of changing hearts and minds about the future. Oh, and of course as a means of surviving. Because she’s got the power within her that the witches need against their common enemy the Camarilla.
5. Adil is going to die.
We don’t want Adil to die; partially because we love the relationship that he has with Abigail. But we do enjoy his character, what he brings to the show, and the power that is hidden within. When push comes to shove, and the witch plague is going to shove, we think Adil will step forward and do what is necessary to destroy the creation that’s after them and take the Camarilla leader out at the same time.
