Welcome home, Star Family! The Justice Society of America and Co. continues to grow in the first short teaser for Stargirl Season 3.
Seriously, the quick glimpse of Cindy Burman standing with the JSA is something so special. Season 3 cannot get here fast enough. The lack of content from this superhero show has been brutal since Stargirl 2×13, “Summer School: Chapter 13,” which aired in November 2021. But this teaser bodes well that we will be seeing more of the JSA soon!
The trailer moves past DC’s Stagirl‘s Summer School subtitle to embrace the Frenemies concept introduced in the Season 2 finale. After all, who can forget Artemis and her parents, Larry and Paula, moving in next door to the Dugan-Whitmore family? Although, it seems like “frenemies” could arise from surprising sources, like Sylvester Pemberton/Starman.

It appears like Sylvester is living with the Star Family (and cooking for them). But maybe that excitement and newness wears off, leaving some fraught dynamics in their wake. But, before that — if it happens — Stargirl Season 3 knows what the people want: Sylvester and Courtney training together and Sylvester and Pat making up for the lost time. Of course, we also want to know how Sylvester is alive, but that can wait.
There is no news on Stargirl Season 3’s premiere date. But we know the show will air on Wednesday nights at 8/7c. When it premieres, the JSA and Co. may evolve into a larger group of people beyond the additions of Mike, Cindy, and Jakeem. A few casting announcements have come out during the hiatus. One of them could mean the return of Ysa Penarejo as Jennie-Lynn Hayden/Jade.
Entertainment Weekly exclusively reported that Tim Gabriel would appear on the show as Todd Rice, aka Obsidian, Alan Scott/Golden Age Green Lantern’s son and Jennie’s twin brother.

Stargirl fans know much of Jennie’s arc in Season 2 detailed her journey to find her brother, which eventually led to the introduction of The Helix Institute for Youth Rehabilitation and Mr. Bones. Those mysterious elements will bring themselves to Blue Valley in Season 3 because they are “determined to understand Todd’s powers.” According to EW, “Just like in the comics, Todd is LGBTQ and wields ‘strange and uncontrollable shadow abilities.'”
Additionally, there’s a recast in Stargirl‘s midst as Seth Green joins the series as Thunderbolt, according to an exclusive report from TVLine. Jim Gaffigan voiced the role throughout Thunderbolt’s appearances in Season 2. Thunderbolt’s eventual reappearance posits that Jakeem and Mike’s wishes to create their team could become a reality.
Nevertheless, it’s exciting to know the JSA and Co. will be back sooner rather than later! It’s only a matter of time until Stargirl returns to deliver more emotional, team-building scenes and epic heroics. Oh, and Pat Dugan! There’s never enough Pat Dugan. Until then, we will rewatch this teaser trailer until we get sick of it, which could never happen. If it does, we’ll ask Thunderbolt if he can speed up Season 3’s premiere.
