The sports docuseries keep coming! Produced in partnership with CBS Sports and CBS Sports Emmy-winning Senior Creative Director Pete Radovich, Paramount+ will debut PULISIC, a multi-season and multi-episode documentary about American soccer’s biggest star, Christian Pulisic. The docuseries will begin filming this summer and follows the athlete’s life and career through the 2024 Copa América. PULISIC is set to premiere this fall on Paramount+ during the 2024/2025 season.
CBS Sports announced the docuseries during the pre-game coverage of this year’s Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund (Pulisic’s former club) and Real Madrid, which the latter won 0-2. Pulisic won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021. CBS Sports’ UEFA Champions League Today host Kate Abdo and analysts Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, and Micah Richards interviewed Pulisic about the upcoming docuseries. It will have unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to his life and growing celebrity in Italy as he competes in the UEFA Champions League and Serie A competitions with AC Milan.
Abdo asked the star forward, who’s famously private about his personal life, why now is the best time for PULISIC. “I mean, as soon as Pete Radovich, kind of, reached out to me — and just seeing all the work that Paramount and CBS have been doing — I think it’s the perfect opportunity for me to kind of show, you know, people a little bit of what it’s like being an American out in Europe, the struggles I go through all of those things. So, I think, for me, I think it’s a great time leading up to the World Cup in the US. So, I’m just really excited about it,” Christian Pulisic responded.
Paramount+ presents PULISIC as a docuseries that will see cameras “in tow every step of the way as Pulisic meets the demands of global stardom and prepares for the biggest moment of his career – the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup on home soil.” The documentary will spotlight Pulisic’s beginnings in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and beyond. “From representing the U.S. Men’s National Team this summer to suiting up for AC Milan against the game’s biggest stars in Europe, Pulisic’s stardom is reaching new heights both on and off the pitch,” per Paramount+’s synopsis.
“Christian Pulisic is the most high-profile men’s player to ever come out of America but very little is known about his personal life. We’re thrilled to be working with Christian to tell his life story, show the world who he really is, and highlight the tremendous impact he’s had on American soccer leading into the most demanding moments of his career,” Pete Radovich said in a statement.
PULISIC joins a growing catalog of soccer-centric sports entertainment across streaming platforms. The Emmy-Award-winning docuseries Welcome to Wrexham is currently airing its third season, with a fourth season already announced. Netflix has become a home for sports entertainment with the likes of Manchester City’s Together: Treble Winners, Beckham, and Under Pressure: The U.S. Women’s World Cup Team. PULISIC is the latest installment in Stories from the Beautiful Game, Paramount+’s soccer documentary collections, including Football Must Go On and Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In.
