After the success of last summer’s Quarterback, NFL Films, Omaha Productions, and 2PM Productions have teamed up for RECEIVER. The eight-episode docuseries will follow Davante Adams (Wide receiver, Las Vegas Raiders), Justin Jefferson (Wide receiver, Minnesota Vikings), George Kittle (Tight end, San Francisco 49ers), Deebo Samuel (Wide receiver, San Francisco 49ers), and Amon-Ra St. Brown (Wide receiver, Detroit Lions) during the 2023-24 NFL season.
“With players mic’ed up for every game, Receiver promises an all-access look at everything from the pre-game prep to the pressures players face — plus the skill and swagger they bring to the field to excel at one of toughest jobs in pro sports,” per RECEIVER’s synopsis. The docuseries debuts on Wednesday, July 10, on Netflix.
“As we did with Quarterback, we look forward to telling the stories of five incredible receivers, each with their unique personality, skill set, and motivation for what drives them to be the best,” executive producer Peyton Manning told Netflix.
The new trailer for the 50-minute episodes features Adams discussing his competitive nature and what he hopes to give Raider Nation during a game. “It’s not about me, but I feel like it’s my responsibility to give them exactly what they came to see,” Adams says. The wide receiver also discusses giving it his all on the field and at home with his family.
As much as RECEIVER will give football fans an extra-close look at what it takes to be the best pass catchers in the NFL, it’s also interested in getting to know the players. That journey means following them through injuries, spending time with their family, and understanding the legacy of their respective teams. While Deebo and Kittle discuss the 49ers’ chances at the Super Bowl, St. Brown talks about the Lions’ history of division titles.
The docuseries executive producers include Peyton Manning and Jamie Horowitz for Omaha Productions; Ross Ketover, Pat Kelleher, Keith Cossrow and Jessica Boddy for NFL Films; Patrick Mahomes and Jacquelyn Dahl for 2PM Productions. Joe Zucco is RECEIVER’s showrunner and editor. The editors and directors are Matt Dissinger, Michelle Navarrete, Shannon Furman, Tim Rumpff, and Jason Weber.
