Have you wondered what Cher Horowitz has been up to since 1995? Well, we’re going to find out! A Clueless sequel series has been greenlit at Paramount+, with Alicia Silverstone set to reprise her iconic role of Cher. She celebrated the news on Instagram! Silverstone will also be an executive producer on the “event series,” which will start production in Los Angeles next year. Excitingly, Amy Heckerling, the writer and director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, an original film producer, will serve as executive producers on this show.
There is still little known about what Paramount+ specifically means by “event series.” The streamer has released a description, though, which reads as follows:
“Picking up 30 years after the original film, beloved Beverly Hills icon Cher Horowitz has figured out a lot: She’s successful in business and has mastered motherhood—that is, until her daughter’s high school years, and Cher finds that parenting a teenager makes her feel “clueless” all over again.”

There is a creative team attached to the untitled project. It’s Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage, a duo behind some of the best early 2000s coming-of-age TV shows, and Jordan Weiss, known for her work on Dollface, Sweethearts, and Freakier Friday. They will write and executive produce the sequel series. Schwartz & Savage produce via Fake Empire.
“Clueless is coming home,” said Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+. “Thirty-one years ago, Alicia Silverstone’s Cher Horowitz captivated audiences with her signature chic style, sharp wit and relentless optimism, helping make Clueless a box office hit and instant pop culture classic. We’re especially proud to be filming this much-anticipated series in Los Angeles, honoring its starring role in the original film while investing in the city’s exceptional talent and crews.”
This news comes after Clueless celebrated its 30th anniversary last summer. It also comes after multiple attempts at a sequel series. In 2020, Peacock developed a spinoff series where Stacey Dash reprised her role as Dionne to investigate Cher’s disappearance. Earlier this year, Peacock scrapped a Cher-centric sequel series after it began development in April 2025. Now, the Clueless series is back at Paramount – Paramount Pictures produced the original movie, which is a loose adaptation fo Jane Austen’s Emma.
