Season 3 of DOC is right around the corner and we can’t wait. The return of fall television is one of our favorite times of the year.
With the return of fall television, we know that we’re going to get new cast members and we love the anticipation of that. DOC is adding four to the cast – Barrett Carnahan (For All Mankind), Raffa Virago (Star Trek: Starfleet Academy), Cecilia Lee (Star Trek: Starfleet Academy), and Kolton Stewart (My Life with the Walter Boys).
Now if you’re like us and you see these names, the first thing that went through our minds was wait, Kolton Stewart? What does that mean for My Life With The Walter Boys? We have to know if Kiley and Dylan are together, or if it will be Kiley and Alex!
But back to DOC.
The newest intern class is already giving us so much to be excited about for DOC season 3. With personalities that range from charmingly complicated to wonderfully earnest, these new faces could bring fresh tension, heart, and a whole lot of potential to the hospital.
Barrett Carnahan as Graham Barker
Carnahan’s Graham Barker sounds like the kind of character who could walk into a room and immediately make an impression. Entitled, polished, charming, and very aware of the privilege attached to his name, Graham has all the ingredients for a deliciously complicated addition to the hospital. But his determination to prove he is more than the wealthy donor’s “nepo baby” is what makes us especially interested in seeing where his story goes.
There is real potential for DOC to explore the pressure of legacy, the insecurity beneath confidence, and what happens when someone used to having every advantage has to earn the respect of people who are not impressed by his last name. We are already curious about whether Graham’s charm will win the other interns over—or whether it will create more friction than friendship.
Raffa Virago as Nikki De Silva
Virago’s Nikki De Silva sounds like someone who is going to keep everyone on their toes. Sharp, quick-witted, and an undeniable overachiever, Nikki may come across as someone who always has everything together—even if being “wound tight” suggests there is much more happening beneath that controlled exterior.
We cannot wait to see what pushes Nikki out of her comfort zone, especially in an environment as emotionally intense and unpredictable as the hospital. Her intelligence and drive could make her a formidable intern, while her tightly held composure opens the door for vulnerable, human moments that DOC does so well. And honestly, every group needs someone with a perfectly timed smart remark.
Cecilia Lee as Ruth Chen
Lee’s Ruth Chen may be the emotional heart of this new intern group. Empathetic, kind, and always ready to cheer on the people around her, Ruth sounds like exactly the person you would want beside you during a difficult shift. Her warmth could make her a grounding presence for the other interns, particularly as they all navigate the pressures of learning in such a demanding environment.
What makes Ruth feel especially compelling, though, is that her intelligence does not make her immune to stress. The possibility of watching someone so capable become overwhelmed—and then learn how to trust herself through those moments—could give Lee plenty of emotionally rich material to explore. We are always here for a character whose kindness is a strength, not a weakness.
Kolton Stewart as Kyle Ferguson
Stewart’s Kyle Ferguson sounds completely endearing. As the youngest intern—and someone who was homeschooled—Kyle may arrive at the hospital feeling a little out of place, even with his obvious brilliance. His humility, sincerity, and guileless nature could make him one of the most instantly lovable members of the group.
There is so much potential in watching Kyle adapt to the social and professional realities of a busy hospital while holding onto the directness and honesty that make him who he is. His fish-out-of-water perspective may offer a fresh lens on the world of DOC, and we have a feeling his sincere approach to medicine and people could surprise everyone—including Kyle himself.
DOC stars Molly Parker, Omar Metwally, Amirah Vann, Jon Ecker, Anya Banerjee, and Patrick Walker, as well as Blair Underwood.
Season 3 of DOC premieres September 22nd on Fox.
I can’t wait for this show! I look forward to the new interns’ dynamic with Amy
